The difference between sometime and sometimes
Some time as two words means a span of time: "We spent some time in the lion's cage."
Sometime as one word means "at an unspecified time": "Let's have lunch sometime."
Sometimes means "now and then": "Sometimes I go to the gravel pit and roll around in the sand."
Sometimes is used for habits and facts (adverb of frequency)

Sometime is an adjective and an adverb, but sometimes is only an adverb. They have different
meanings. Sometime, as an adverb, means 'at some indefinite time', and sometimes means 'now and
then'. Some time as a noun phrase means 'an indefinite period of time'.
Ex:
1. We should have lunch sometime. (We ought to meet for lunch in the future, and it is implied that
it will only occur once.)
2. We meet sometimes for lunch. (We met for lunch, but not often. It is likely to happen in the
future.)
3. We spent some time eating lunch. (We ate lunch for an indefinite period of time, and it may be
implied that it was longer than usual.)

unstated time; having been at some prior time; former; anytime. Sometimes means occasionally.
