Sentimentally, we should show the employers our love for the job. We should
make them understand that we apply for the job because we love it and really want
to do it. It is this love that enables us work effectively and attach with them for a
long time. In short, to get a good job, we must have good professional knowledge,
good communicative skills, and the love for it.
TOPIC 3: How is computer useful for your work or your study?
Computer currently helps me much in my study. First of all, it helps me
format my lessons effectively. I often type my lessons on the computer and format
them to make them attractive to eyes so that I may learn them by heart quickly and
review them conveniently. Next, computer helps me keep my materials safely for
future use. Today, beside the hard drive, I often bring my USB’s with me and use

them to save all what I want at any time and place. Moreover, I often update my
materials on the screen. This enables me to create clear and tidy versions of
materials and save up much time for other activities. On the other hand, computer
is the most helpful friend helping me learn information and knowledge on the
internet. Thanks to computer, I often access the internet and learn many things.
Computer has made my understanding better day by day and become indispensable
for my study.
TOPIC 4: Why do many people want to study abroad? What do we
have to prepare to study abroad?
Studying abroad has many advantages. First, you are better trained because
the education in developed countries is better than that of our country. Second, we
can widen our understanding about another culture. Living abroad is a wonderful
opportunity for us to learn about the customs there. Moreover, studying abroad
improves our professional prestige, keeping us easy to find a well-paid job and to
gain prestige in our working place. However, to study abroad smoothly, we must
carefully prepare some necessary things in advance. English is the first thing for us
to master. Without it, you can’t understand anything and your study surely
becomes a nightmare. Next is cultural knowledge which enables you to adapt
yourself to foreign communities and avoid cultural shocks. In addition, you should
prepare psychology against homesickness because you can not return to your
homeland right away when you want. In summary, studying abroad successfully
requires you to know about its positive points and how to deal with difficulties
abroad.
TOPIC 5: What is your plan for the future?
I plan to become an accountant because it is an interesting career for several
reasons. First, I am trained to do this job at the university. I take many subjects
relating to my future job. The examinations I have passed show that I'll have
enough ability to do the job well. Second, it can train me to become a very careful
person in my life. I won't be allowed to make any mistakes because every mistake
can lead to the losing of a big sum of money. Third, with this job, I hope I can help

the poor or farmers to borrow money from banks to invest in their rice fields or do
small business. Fourth, with this job, I can work indoors. I needn't face the sunlight
or dew like my parents working in the field. Especially, I can earn enough for
myself and support my family, I hope so. The above things are the reasons why I
plan to be an accountant in the future.
TOPIC 6: The advantages and disadvantages of watching TV
Everything is two-faced like the two faces of a coin, and so is watching TV.
Watching TV has advantages. First, it widens our knowledge. Information on TV
is diverse, letting the viewers know upto-date news from all fields of life such as
news about politics, socioeconomy, scientific-technology, etc… Second, TV serves
us as a means of relaxation. Films, plays, music shows on TV are available all day.
We can enjoy these programs at home whenever we like. Third, it is a good friend
helping us kill time. Whenever we feel bored or do not know what to do. Simply
turn on your TV set and you will surely feel OK soon. On the other hand, watching
TV also has some disadvantages. Bad contents such as violent films, sexual
exposures on the screen, and other sensitive topics may dangerously affect
children. In addition, Watching TV too much or regularly also takes us much time
and badly affects our health, especially our eyes. Finally, we have to pay some
extra money for electricity consumption, too. In short, watching TV, which may be
good or bad, depends on the way we use TV to serve our life.
TOPIC 7: How do you spend your summer vacation?
As a student, I don’t have much free time beside those I love, so my summer
vacation is the duration during which I often busy myself with many things at
home all day. In the day time, I often do sundry things for my grandmother and
help my parents to do housework. In the evening, I go out with some of my old
friends. We often chat with each other in a cafe. Usually, when I am free from
doing housework, I go and visit close relatives in my neighborhood and ask them
about their life and business. In the late evening, I watch films on TV or read
novels or books to widen my understanding. I often go to bed very late. In my
mind, I always want my short summer vacations to be not only comfortable for me

but also useful for my beloved people.
TOPIC 8: Describe your daily routine, how do you spend your free
time?
My routine is almost the same everyday. In the morning, I get up early at
about 5:00 o’clock. After having washed my face, brushed my teeth, I do morning
physical exercises. Then, I have a bath and wash my clothes. I have breakfast at six
o'clock. After breakfast, I get dressed and go to school at ten to seven. I study in
the school from seven to ten past eleven. When my classes are over, I have lunch
in a cafe. Then, I go back to my boarding-house and take a nap. In the afternoon, I
review my lessons, play sports with my friends in Campus A. At 5:30pm, I have a
bath. After that, I have dinner in the university canteen. I have free time in the
evening. In my free time, I go out with my roommates. We go around the city,
spend our time in a coffee shop or go shopping. I am always pleased with my daily
activities and love my routine.
TOPIC 9: If you have a one-week holiday, how will you spend it?
If I have a one-week holiday, I will return to my homeland. Spending a short
holiday at home benefits me on many things. I can enjoy my free time beside my
close relatives whom I have seldom seen since I began my study at Angiang
University. In addition, I can help my parents to do housework and go out with my
old friends. Moreover, staying home doesn’t cost me any money but I can do
things after my hobby such as watching films, listening to music, play badminton,
etc One-week holiday is not a long time for me, so I want to use it for both
myself and my close family members.
TOPIC 10: How do you like to travel in your daily life? What are
advantages and disadvantages of traveling this way?
Bicycle is the best friend in my student life. I always ride my bike to go to
school or around Long Xuyen City. Riding a bicycle has some advantages. First,
bicycles are easy to repair. When it is damaged, you can repair it yourself or have
it repaired with low cost. Next, you don’t have to pay for gasoline because bicycles
don’t need gasoline. Moreover, riding a bike helps you do body exercises and does

not cause environmental pollution. On the other hand, using bicycles also have
some disadvantages. You can’t ride it to work over long distances. You can’t ride
it as quickly as a motorbike in emergency cases. You also can’t take a rest on it
when you are tired because bicycles move with your own strength. However, no
matter what strong points and weak points does a bicycle have, I always consider it
my favorite means of traveling.
TOPIC 11: If you are asked to recommend to foreign tourists the sights
worth seeing in Angiang Province, which would you recommend?
If I am asked to recommend to foreign tourists the sights worth seeing in
Angiang Province, I will recommend two places: Uncle Ton’s Temple and Lam
Vien sightseeing zone because of thei historical meanings and natural beauty.
Visiting Uncle Ton’s Temple, foreign tourists can learn much about this great
person along with a stage of heroic history of Angiang homeland in the two recent
resistance wars against foreign invaders and understand more about Angiang’s
people and culture. Visiting Lam Vien sightseeing zone, tourists can enjoy the
beauty of the nature in Cam Mountains and specific daily activities of the locals
there and their religious customs as well as local handicraft products. Through such
a visit, foreign tourist will have strong impression and sufficiently understand
about Angiang homeland and its people.
TOPIC 12: Do you like to live in the city or in the countryside? Why?
I like living in the countryside because of some reasons. Environmentally
speaking, it is a peaceful place. The air is fresh. The space is quiet. We can enjoy
healthy natural conditions without worrying much about environmental pollution.
As for social security, the countryside is a safer place than a city. While urban
security situation is always complicated with all kinds of crimes, rural areas are
much more secure because most of countrymen are friendly and ready to help one
another. Moreover, rural life is also easier that in cities. People in cities are easy to
get stressed because of pollution, job pressures, competitions, etc On the
contrary, those bad things are very rare in the countryside. To sum up, except
income matters, the countryside is a better residence than cities.

TOPIC 13: Talk about one of your closest friends. Why do you enjoy
making friends with him/her?
Of all my friends, Thanh is my best friend. He is 21 years old and is an
informatics-majoring student of the faculty of science, technology and
environment. Physically, he is not very handsome with nothing special. He is tall
and thin. His skin is brown. His eyes are bright and his hair is wavy. Mentally
speaking, he is very intelligent. Since I knew about this class-mate, he has been a
good student with high marks in examinations. He has never retaken examination
for any subjects. To everyone, he is friendly and helpful. He is always available to
tell all his friends what he knows and helps them heartily in need. Especially, to
me, we have many things in common. We go out and share joys and sorrows with
each other in free time. We respect each other and help each other much in study
and life. We have got many beautiful memories so far. Those are something about
my closest friend and the reasons why we are very close to each other.
TOPIC 14: What do you like and dislike about living in your
neighborhood?
My neighborhood has given me many joys and sorrows, too. I like my
neighborhood because of some reasons as follows. That is a place of peace with
good social security. There is almost no burglary, and crimes. Everyone pays
attention to one another and ready to help each other. Space is quiet. There is no
noise. Environment pollution is inconsiderable. However, my neighborhood is not
a perfect living place. Sometimes, I feel my privacy interfered because some
neighbors pay exorbitant attention to me. Some neighbors live in self-contained
houses, making contacts with them in emergency cases difficult. Moreover,
chances for creating income are not many because there are no factories in my
neighborhood. In summary, although I don’t like my neighborhood in some
respects, I still wish to live there because of my friendly neighbors and some good
living conditions that I have enjoyed so far.
TOPIC 15: Do you like to live in a nuclear family or an extended
family? Why?

I like living in an extended family because this family pattern has many
noble values. First, extended families bring children close relationship from both
their parents and their grandparents. Children enjoy full love and care from the
elderly members in their family. Second, children can inherit family heritage of
their ancestors. Familial property and keepsakes can be kept and passed from
generation to generation, making ties between familial members become firmer.
Moreover, in an extended family, its tradition, rituals, and customs can be taught
carefully to the latter generation, making children realize familial tradition and
know how to behave well with everybody right from early lifetime. In summary,
the positive values of an extended family, which are real and undeniable, make me
like it very much.
TOPIC 16: Describe your house.
My house is small, but it has enough space for my things. It is in Cho Moi
district, about 45 kilometers from Long Xuyen City. There are four rooms in my
house: a living room, two bedrooms, and a kitchen. The living room is not very
big. There is a table in the middle with four chairs, a television on the left back
corner, and a display cabinet. All of the curtains are pink. There is a vase of
flowers on the table. In the bedrooms there are mats, pillows, mosquito nets and
blankets. We have one alarm clock in each bedroom. The kitchen seems narrow
with a lot of kitchenware, a table, six chairs, and a fridge. The house is surrounded
by a garden with a lot of flowers in spring. Our gate is green. I love my house very
much because it is the place I was born and grew up.
TOPIC 17: Should people retire at the age of sixty?
In my opinion, people should retire at the age of sixty because of physical
and mental problems and longevity. Physically, at the age of sixty, our health
comes down gradually. We no longer have much strength. Bone structures get
weak. We easily get sick or break our bones. Such a physical status is not ideal for
working any more. Mentally, physical come-down makes the brain weak and hurt
easily. Our senses are not good as before. Elderly people are usually absentminded
with bad eyesight and low flexibility. For longevity, the age of sixty is the last

duration of life, people should withdraw from business, transfer their precious
experience to their children to enjoy their free time, keep health in order to
lengthen their longevity with their children. In summary, people should retire at the
age of sixty to keep health and good mind and live long with their children.
TOPIC 18: How does the food you eat affect your health?
Tell some food that you think is healthy. Food is the very important source
of nutrition that brings us health in many ways. Animal meat such as pork,
chicken, fish gives us animal protein which is very necessary for body cell
creation. Vegetables such as salad, pumpkins, tomatoes, carrots, etc give us
essential vitamins and minerals. Fruit, such as papayas, mangoes, guavas,
jackfruits, etc , is the main source providing us many kinds of vitamins and
carotene. Cereals such as rice, wheat, corn, beans, cassava give us starch and
glucose. According to some scientific research achievements, in our meals, we
should eat much food of vegetable origins, little animal meat to be healthy because
much animal meat intake is the cause of many kinds of human diseases. All kinds
of food are necessary for us but to be healthy, we should have sufficient knowledge
about nutrition.
TOPIC 19: Talk about some effects of smoking.
Give some advice to give up smoking. Smoking shortens your longevity.
According some scientific studies, much cigarette intake regularly damages your
lung, causing pneumonia, tuberculosis, and even lung cancer. As for heavy
smokers, they may get addicted with drug, a kind of refined tobacco or opium,
making them loose laboring ability, mental consciousness, and die gradually. To
give up smoking is not easy. It requires us to have self-consciousness and high
determination. We must not think about it in any situation. We must avoid
contacting with all processed forms of tobacco, and addicted friends. We also must
follow doctor advice and find some healthy pastimes for ourselves. To quit
smoking successfully, we must sufficiently know its harmful effect, and have
strong energy to say good-bye to it.
TOPIC 20: Talk about the causes and effects of one kind of the

environmental pollution.
Today, air, noise, and water are polluted everywhere for many causes, but
water pollution is, in my opinion, the most serious. The immediate cause is human
garbage-littering. Many inhabitants of poor consciousness of hygiene throw all
kinds of garbage everywhere, especially into rivers. Most of properly-untreated
industrial waste disposals are also poured into rivers. In agricultural production,
water in fields containing all kinds of chemicals from insecticides and fertilizers
finally flow into rivers, too. The result is that water resources are seriously
polluted. For human beings, the use of polluted water without being carefully
filtered or boiled causes various diseases. For aquatic animals, such as fish,
shrimps, crabs, frogs, etc , they can’t lay eggs or grow naturally as formerly;
some species even become extinct. For aquatic plants, they can die or become
contaminated with harmful substances and become dangers for creatures that eat
them. The above-mentioned are just some causes and effects of water pollution that
we can easily see everywhere today.
TOPIC 21: Do you like pets? What kind of pets do you like best? Why?
Among kinds of pets, I like dogs best because of the following reasons.
First, the dog is lovely. There are many dogs which have beautiful hair. Their faces
are often very expressive. Especially you will like having a dog when you see a
Japanese dog. It is very small and very cute. Second, the dog is loyal. Dogs are
really effective gatekeepers for you every night and when you are away from
home. Finally, the dog can bring you good luck. It is said that when a strange dog
comes to your house, you may win in the lottery. It is the reasons above that I like
dogs best.
TOPIC 22: If you were a billionaire, what would you do?
If I were a billionaire, I would build a vocational school for street children.
The following are the reasons of my decision. First of all, street children are very
poor. They have no job, no home, very little money. Their lives are unstable in
streets. In addition, street children are helpless. They are put aside society. Their
bad destinies are always in danger. Finally, street children are the results of the

mistakes of adults. They are innocent. Therefore, they are worth of being helped to
have a chance for a better life. It is the above-mentioned things that I decide to
build a vocational school for helping street children when I become a billionaire.
TOPIC 23: How many seasons are there in the South of Vietnam?
Which one do you prefer? Why?
Southern Vietnam has two seasons: wet season and dry season. However, I
only like the dry season because of the reasons as follows. Firstly, in the dry
season, we can do many things very conveniently and comfortably such as going to
school, going on picnic, traveling whenever I like, while in the wet season, rains
day after day prevent us from doing many things. Secondly, the dry season is
always peaceful for our living. On the contrary, floods, storms, thunders, landslides
are deadly disasters which often come in the rainy season. Last of all, the dry
season is the ideal time for earning-for-living activities of many people, especially
the poor. In the mean time, bad phenomena of weather usually happen in the wet
season, causing the life of very many people meet difficulties. In summary, I prefer
the dry season to the wet season because of the convenient things that I have told
you.
TOPIC 24: Do you think the computer is a useful tool? How is it useful?
I think that computers are very useful for our life in many ways. First,
computers help us work conveniently and quickly. When we enter data and orders
into a computer, we can get expected results almost immediately. Next, computers
are useful for our study. Nowadays, with a computer connecting to the internet, we
can learn a lot of things all over the world. Moreover, computers are also
wonderful means of entertainment. With media soft-wares, we can enjoy all kinds
of films, plays and music. Last of all, computers can serve as neat storages. On a
computer we can store a lot of documents and memorial photographs safely for a
long time. In short, computers have been improving our life and work better and
better.
TOPIC 25: What’s your favorite means of transportation? Why do you
like it?

My favorite means of transportation is the bicycle because of its
conveniences. First, bicycling helps you save money. To buy a car or a motorbike,
you must pay plenty of money, but you spend much less money to buy a bicycle.
Also, while you must pay for gasoline to use vehicles having engines, a bicycle
requires no money for gasoline at all. On the other hand, bicycling is good for your
health. You sit still as riding a motorbike, but with a bicycle, you surely have
chances to do body exercises regularly, keeping you healthier and healthier. Last
but not least, bicycles contribute to protect environment. Smokes from engines
pollute the air day after day; bicycling produces no pollution, making our
atmosphere fresh and clean. The abovementioned explain why I like bicycling
most.
TOPIC 26: Do you have any problems in learning English? How do you
overcome them?
When I learn English, I meet many difficulties in speaking and listening. As
for speaking skill, I can not speak English well. My tongue is stiff. There are so
many English sounds that I can’t pronounce English correctly. Besides, I have no
English language environment. These obstacles prevent me from speaking English
well. As for listening skill, I can’t listen to English well, either. Owing to my bad
English pronunciation, I can’t understand much when the others speak English to
me. Furthermore, linking words is another problem for me because I am not
familiar with it. My bad ability of speaking and listening to English makes me find
it very terrible when I encounter this subject. However, I have got some ways to
overcome difficulties in speaking and listening to English. As for speaking, I will
spend much more time to practise with my friends and even with myself. I will
drill my pronunciations and ask for my English teacher’s advice. As for listening, I
will increase my time for listening to English as well as learn experience from
other people. I am optimistic that, my speaking and listening skills will be
improved soon.
TOPIC 27: Tell about how to keep healthy.
There are many ways to keep our health. First, we should eat nutritious food

moderately such as meat, eggs, and vegetables. Second, we should drink nutritious
beverage such as milk, wine. Moreover, we should do morning exercises regularly.
Thanks to doing body exercises every morning, we can lower the level of
cholesterol in our bodies and make the organs in our bodies work well. In addition,
we should also keep our mind relaxed since stressed moods always negatively
affect our health. At last, we should help other people in need. The more we help
the others, the more we want to be healthy to enjoy the happiness and
meaningfulness of our life. To sum up, there are many ways to keep our health if
we really pay attention to it.
TOPIC 28: Where do you prefer living? city or countryside?
According to me, I prefer living to a city because it brings me many
advantages. First, big cities bring me many good educational opportunities because
educational institutions always locate in urban areas. In contrast, the countryside
gives me no chance to attend higher education. Similarly, it is always easier to find
a job in a city than in the countryside because industries and services concentrate
in urban areas and attract all kinds of laborers. Meanwhile, labor markets in the
countryside develops slowly and thus it is very difficult to apply for a job there.
Moreover, big cities still give us conveniences of the modern life. On the contrary,
rural areas are slow, backward before the progress of human civilization. All in all,
the reasons that I have told you keeps me always loving to live in big cities.
TOPIC 29: What is your favorite food? Could you show how to make
one kind of dishes that you know?
To me, I like sour soup with dieu hong fish very much. That is a traditional
dish of Southern Vietnamese. It tastes very delicious and very easy to prepare.
Materials:
1. A dieu hong fish of about a kilo
2. 10 tomatoes, each cut into four pieces
3. 500 gram of bean sprouts
4. 300 gram of okras, each cut into two
5. 4 sprigs of mint cut into small long pieces

6. Two lemons squeezed into juice
7. Seasoning powder
8. Some salt
9. Some herbs
Steps:
1. Prepare half a pot of fresh water.
2. Scatter a bit of salt into the fresh water.
3. Heat the pot until the water in the pot boils.
4. Place the cleaned dieu hong fish into the pot of boiling water and wait
until it is well-cooked.
5. Place okras into the pot.
6. 3 minutes after that, place tomatoes and mint into the pot.
7. About 3 minutes after, drop bean sprouts into the pot.
8. Taste the soup into the pot with seasoning powder.
9. Prepare a big bowl of lemon juice.
10.Ladle the sour soup in the pot into this bowl of lemon juice and put herbs
on top.
11.This dish when served hot with fish sauce is very delicious.
TOPIC 30: Describe the room that you like best in your house. Why do
you like it?
In my house, I like the living-room best because that is the place actively
influencing my family. First, the living-room is where my family get together
every evening to enjoy the cozy family atmosphere. At that moment, we often
watch TV, my parents give us advice, and we always chat with one another very
merrily. Also, the living-room is where we welcome visitors and guests. In my
house, it is the ideal place to receive everybody and they always feel happy and
comfortable to be in there. Moreover, the living-room is the best place to relax. It
is the place that is best equipped, so we always feel pleasant and peaceful there
when we have any mental problems. To sum up, the living room is the place that
always brings us positive things in our life.

TOPIC 31: Tell an experience that you never forget.
I never forget the moment that I received the news of my passing the
university entrance examination. When I saw my name on the list of passers, I felt
so happy that I was going to burst into tears. My parents were also very glad. They
gave me compliments, and showed me how they were pleased about my
examination result. My relatives and my friends offered me congratulations. At
that time, it seemed that I had been the apple in everybody’s eyes. I felt very proud
of my self and everybody felt proud of me, too. That is the sweetest memory that I
have experienced in my life so far.
TOPIC 32: Which places in Vietnam do you think are the most
interesting for visitors from other countries
In my view, two most interesting places that visitors should come in our
country are Ha Long Bay and Phu Tu Island. Ha Long Bay is a beautiful landscape
in Northern Vietnam. That is where there are thousands of strange-shaped islands
and limestone grottoes of all sizes covering a large sea zone in the Gulf of Tonkin.
The sea there is very calm while the sky above is often clear and bright, making the
whole panorama of Ha Long Bay strangely attractive and full of poetry. Similarly,
Phu Tu Island is really a beautiful scenery of Southern Vietnam. It locates in Hon
Chong area of Kien Giang Province. There, you will see a wonder of nature: two
high masses of stone, a big one and a small one, growing from a natural pedestal
on the sea surface like a father and a son watching over the sea day and night. Phu
Tu Island is the emblem of Kien Giang Province. However, the Island of Phu has
been collapsed recently due to a sudden weather incident and the authorities of
Kien Giang Province are planning to restore it as it used to be. Subjectively
speaking, the two sites that I have told you are the best to visit in this country.
TOPIC 33: How do you spend your weekends?
At weekends, I often spend time for my favorite activities. On Saturday
evening, I often go watching films in a café alone or with some of my friends. If I
don’t watch films, I play cards with my roommates and chat about all things that
we can imagine and go to bed very late. On Sunday morning, I also get up late to

relax since my busy study from Monday through Friday always makes me tired.
Besides, at weekends, I often buy delicious food to enjoy and to nourish my body.
On Sunday afternoon, I do nothing but relax and listen to music or watch TV.
Every once a month, I return to my homeland to visit my parents, my brothers and
sisters, my relatives and to ask my parents for money as well. As these routines
happen repeatedly, I am always happy and pleased with weekends I have enjoyed
so far.
TOPIC 34: Talk about your daily routine. What are you activities in a
normal day?
My days are always busy and the same. My day begins very early in the
morning. I usually get up a 4.30 am. After having got up, I clear my bed, clean my
face, brush my teeth and do morning exercises. At about 5.30, I wash my dirty
clothes and take a bath. I often have breakfast at 6.30. After having had breakfast, I
prepare my books and notebooks, and go to school. I study at school from 7.00 am
to 11.00 am. At noon, I get home at 11.00 and prepare for lunch. I usually finish
my lunch at 11.50 and then I rest and take a nap. In the afternoon, I often learn in
the library from 1.30 pm till 4.30 pm. After that I go to market to buy food for
dinner. I usually finish cooking for dinner at about 5.30 and have dinner until 6.00
pm. In the evening, from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm, I often take a rest, read newspapers,
and listen to music. From 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm, I am self-taught in the school
library. I usually get to my living-place at about 9.45. After that, I go to bed. I
often sleep until 4.30 am of the next morning when a new day of mine begins.
Although my daily routine is busy, I am very pleased with it. That’s all.
TOPIC 35: What do you like and dislike?
I like helping my friends because when I do something good for the others, I
receive new exhilaration, making me feel more interested and happier. First, each
help that I have given to a friend brings me a lovely memory. The friend receiving
my help often offers me a special attention in our friendship. Second, helping my
friends makes my life meaningful. The more I do good things for everybody, the
more I feel proud of my existence in this life. Moreover, helping friends also

means helping yourself. Everybody sees your good heart and thus it is sure that
they will not forsake you when you fall in difficulties. It is the immediate benefits
that I have told you make me fond of helping my friends. I hate telling a lie
because it brings many dangers. Firstly, telling a lie make everybody not respect
us. We know that telling a lie is not good. When we do so, it means that we do not
respect ourselves and thus other people also do not respect us. Secondly, telling a
lie negatively affects our jobs. When everybody doesn’t trust us, it is really
difficult for us to deal with partners in our business. Thirdly, telling a lie
unintentionally hurts our kin people. They are surely very shameful when other
people know that they are kin to liars like us. It is the bad effects in such a chain
that I do not like telling a lie at all.
TOPIC 36: Talk about your last holiday. When? Where? What? And
how?
My most recent holiday is the trip to Hon Chong two months ago. That trip
was at weekends. On that Saturday morning, my friends and I departed very early
by motorbike. We rode non-stop from Long Xuyen to Rach Gia city where we
stopped for 30 minutes to relax. We spent approximately one hour to go around
Rach Gia city. At about 11.00 am, we began to head to Hon Chong. We arrived at
Hon Chong at about 3.30. On that afternoon, we rent a room in a hotel in Hon
Chong to stay overnight. From 4.30 pm to 5.30 on that same day, we went taking a
sea bath. After that, we went back to our hotel to take a bath with fresh water and
have dinner. In the evening, we ate seafood in a small restaurant by the sea and
enjoyed the romantic nightfall scenery for 2 hours. We went to bed at 10.30 pm in
that night. When the dawn of the next day came, we visited Hang Pagoda, Tu
Island (which used to be named Phu Tu Island but the Phu Island has collapsed
recently due to a natural incident). At 9.30 on Sunday morning, we left Hon Chong
for home. We got back to Long Xuyen at 4.00 pm via Vam Ray Ferry, and Tri
Ton’s roads.
TOPIC 37: Tell about one kind of sports that you like.
I like playing badminton best because this sport is not only easy to play but

also good for health. Badminton is simple to play. You only need to have a racket
of about 60.000 dong. In a game, there are two players. These players will beat the
shuttlecock toward each other. The loser is the one that misses shuttlecock at the
last turn. On the other hand, your health can be improved from playing badminton.
This kind of sport makes our body always have to move with high frequency.
Therefore, it is very effective for you when you want to do physical exercises. It is
these two reasons that I like playing badminton very much.
TOPIC 38: What are your hobbies?
I like traveling very much because it not only relaxes my mind, widens my
knowledge, but also brings me many new friends. First, I always feel happy when
traveling. Enjoying beautiful scenery everywhere, though natural or man-made, is
the most effective pill to heal my mental diseases. Besides, I can learn many
interesting things from traveling. The more we travel, the more we know about the
world around us, which considerably contributes to our understandings. In
addition, we can have interesting relationships when we travel to somewhere.
Sudden friendships coming with us in our trips brings us sweet memories and
warm feelings everywhere, making us not feel lonely or strange anywhere we
come and visit. Briefly speaking, traveling is important and essential part of my
life.

and very happy
TOPIC 40: My dearest friend.
My dearest friend’s full name is Nguyen Thi Huyen. She is tall and beautiful
with a round face. We first met each other when we entered high school. We were
classmates during our three years in high school. There were 45 students in my
class, but I only liked to talk with Huyen because we sat next to each other and she
was very easy-going. We shared our hobbies as well as our problems. Huyen and I
had many things in common, especially, our hobbies. We both liked reading book,
cooking, playing with cat and singing. Moreover, we also liked studying Math,
Chemistry and Biology. Although we are now studying in two different
universities, we often visit each other. I feel very lucky when having a friend like
Huyen. She encourages me a lot, gives me many useful advices and shares with me
everything in life. Because we study the same major, we can also discuss and
exchange much knowledge. I don’t feel home sick when being away from home
because Huyen helps me to overcome all difficulties in my life. I love Huyen so
much. We will be the best friends forever.
TOPIC 41: My last summer holiday.
My last summer holiday was one of my longest holiday, and I think that I
learnt how to spend the time. I enjoyed a lot with my family, and I met new people
too
The first place I visited was Quang Binh. I went there with my parents and my
sister. We stayed there for four days, and it was really interesting. When I saw the
forest, I opened my eyes the most I could. The air there was very fresh. I felt like a
little girl again.
Next, I was in Nha Trang. Nha Trang is very famous for its beautiful beaches. We
were on the beach for some days. We did not visit other places, we were there just
to rest. Luckily, the weather was very fine during our holiday in Nha Trang.
After those days, we came back to Hanoi. I felt ready for a new school year.

My last summer holiday was really unforgettable.
TOPIC 42: Describe about Hanoi
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam. It is famous over the country as well as over
the world for its beauty, history and culture. I have been living and studying in
Hanoi for 2 years. Since I came here, I have visited many places, such as Hoan
Kiem Lake, West Lake, HoChiMinh Mausoleum, Thu Le Zoo and some historical
places… These places are very beautiful and become tourist attractions. The
weather in Hanoi is very mild. I like the spring and the autumn in Hanoi the most
because of good weather and beautiful color of trees. Hanoi is also famous for its
“Pho” or noodle which can be found in any street. More and more foreigners visit
Hanoi every year. This year, there will be a great anniversary when Hanoi is 1000
years old. I think that Hanoi is always one of the most beautiful capitals in the
world.
TOPIC 43: My family
There are four people in my family: my parents, my younger brother and I.
My father is 46. He is a worker in a company which is near my house. He likes
talking with his friends or watching TV in his free time. However, my father is
very strict. He teaches I and my brother many things in life. My mother is also 46.
She is gentle and kind. She cooks very well. My father, my brother and I like to eat
whatever she cooks. My mother likes listening to classic musis. She usually gives
us some useful advices when we have problems. My younger brother is studying at
high school. He is a smart pupil in his class. At home, he usually helps parents to
do the house works. He likes listening to rock music and plays games on computer.
And the last one is me. I am a second year student in Hung Yen province. I am
being trained to be a teacher. After graduating from university, I want to teach in a
school in my hometown. My family is very important to me. I love my family very
much.
TOPIC 44: Country life Vs City life
Both country and city have separate advantages and disadvantages. Which
place people prefer to live depends on their hobby and job. The city is noisier than

the country with many restaurants, bars, cinemas, theatres, and parks. In contrast,
in country, there are many hills, green fields, small houses, and peaceful rivers.
However, the country has less companies and factories than big city. City is full of
skyscrapers and vehicles instead of green trees, windy fields and pollute river like
countryside. As a result, it is easy to face up with traffic jam in rush hour and
polluted air with smoke from factories in the noisy areas. Obviously, it causes
more bad impact for people living in the city than ones living in countryside.
The last thing but the most important thing is that there are more
opportunities of job in city than in hometown. Logically, many youths leave from
their small towns to big cities for bright future. It is a public phenomenon in
developing countries such as Vietnam - my country. In countryside, workforce is
both lacking and unwell-trained. On the other hand, in big city, many people are
unemployed due to their lack of ability to meet the job requirement.
In conclusion, city life is appropriate for young and healthy people;
countryside life is good for the rest. On the other hand, in my opinion, it is
necessary to have a balance between city and countryside. In addition, despite of
disadvantages and advantages of the big city, I would like city life than country
life.
TOPIC 45: Talk about your best friend
My best friend is Thi, she is my classmate in the University.
She is a beautiful girl with a slim build and a fair complexion (da). She has
long black hairs and an attractive oval face with big brown eyes and red lips, which
are always smiling. She is simple, friensly and kind to everybody. She is also very
sweets, she never gets angry with her husband and children. She works very hard
and look after her family carefully. We often phone to each other to talk out work,
family…
TOPIC 46: Talk about the traffic problems in our city and how to solve
them
HCM city the biggest city in VN. It has a population of 7 million with over 3
million vehicles of all kinds. Moreover, the streets are narrow and in bad condition.

Worse still, many people disobey the traffic regulations. Consequently, there are
many traffic accidents, which kill and injure hundreds of people every month.
Every day, there are at least two or three traffic jams at some junctions in our city
during rush hours.
To solve the above problems, I suggest some solutions: streets repaired and
widened; encourage city-dwellers to use public transport; the city people should be
educated to obey the traffic rules.
TOPIC 47: Talk about your hobbies
My hobbies are listening to music and watching televison. I am very fond of
music. When I am free, I often listen to my favourite songs from an cassette
recorder. At weekends, I usually go to music shops to buy good CD’s. Of the
famous pop singers, I prefer Madonna, Preatney Spears.
I also spend an hour after dinner watching news on television
I think that my hobbies are very useful. They widen my knowledge, relax
my mind and make me feel better about myself.
TOPIC 48: What are the causes of air pollution in our big cities? What
should we do to reduce air pollution?
Air has been polluted by gases emitted (thải) from car exhausts (ống bô) and
from factory chimneys (ống khói)
To reduce air pollution, we should:
Encourage people to use public transport such as public buses
Remove some of the factories in the city center to suburbs
Deforestation must be completely forbidden and we should grow many trees.
TOPIC 49: Talk about advantages and disadvantages of the Internet?
What should we do to reduce the disadvantages?
The internet is a wonderful source of information which enables the user to
communicate with the whole world.
Using internet, we can quickly find the information we need in all fields
such as science, literature, art we can also use the internet to watch films, listen to
music or talk to a person who is living thousands of miles away.

However the internet also has its disadvantages. Some people take advantage
of the internet to deceive others or to issue untrue or malicious information for
their own bad purpose. It is also a source of depraved films and pictures, which
may damage our younger generation.
To avoid negative side –effects, the usage of the internet should be careful
controlled by the authorities.
TOPIC 50: Where do you prefer to live? City or country? Why?
I prefer to live in the country because I can enjoy the fresh air, the peaceful
atmosphere and the beautiful landcape which help to relax my mind. The people in
the country is honesty and kindness, they are always good neighbours.
Roads in the country are not crowed and haven’t traffic jam
