 Indirect questions with if and whether.
Example :
Direct speech: Do you know My So, Nga?, Nhi said.
Reported speech: Nhi asked Nga if/whether she knew My Son.
? Notes:
- The introductory verb is ‘said’
replaced by
‘asked’ + Object
- We normally use if or whether after the verb ‘asked’
- The auxiliary verbs ‘do / does / did’ are omitted
- Tenses, pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs change as in statements
- the question mark (?) is omitted in reported speech
