It’s been two years now, but I still remember every detail of that day. It was a beautiful warm sunny clear
sky day. I had to go to work and then had class at Hunter College that night. Little did I know what would await me
that morning. When I got off my car, I found that the building was being evacuated and no one could tell me why. I

could not find anyone that I worked with. There were hundreds of people just gathering around. No one knew
exactly what had happened. Then someone said that there was a timing bomb in the building and the police were
trying to dispose it. I thought that I should have turned around and tried to go home but a police officer forced us to
keep our place. They were looking for the terrorists. Suddenly the building exploded in a burst of white clouds of
billowing smoke and slowly started to collapse downwards. The same officer who had directed us to stand there
now shouted, “run” and we did. But not fast or far enough. We all were caught in the debris fallout. Most of us
made it out, some did not. The world went totally black and soundless, I never heard the building fall, I could not
see, nor hear, nor feel, just smell and taste were left. I could not breathe or think, nothing, the world just
disappeared in an instant. I eventually made it out and home, but I have never been the same since. I lost a major
part of my life that day, my girlfriend, Lynne.

Last year I went to Nepal for three months to work in a hospital. I think it's important to see as much of a
country as you can, but it is difficult to travel around Nepal. The hospital let me have a few days’ holiday, so I

deer, still bleeding. This was the tiger's lunch! Suddenly I started to feel very frightened.
We heard the tiger a second before we saw it. It jumped out like a flash of lightning, five hundred kilos plus
and four meters long. I looked into its eyes and face, and saw right down the animal's throat. It grabbed Kamal's leg

between its teeth, but I managed to pull Kamal away. One of our elephants ran at the tiger and made it go back into
the grass, so we quickly escaped to let the tiger eat its lunch. That night it was impossible to sleep!
