Lesson 2: SPEAKING
A. Objectives:
1. Aim: Students learn how to express agreement and
disagreement about entertainment activities and to state the
reasons.
2. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:
- Express agreement and disagreement about
entertainment activities and to state the reasons.
3. Skill-based: speaking

I. Warm up.
- Ask Ss look at the picture (swimming)
give some questions:
1. How many people are there in this
picture?
2. What are they doing?
3. Do you like swimming?
4. Do you thik so?

II. New lesson.
1. Pre-speaking.
Task 1: Agreement expressions &
disagreement expressions
- Instruct Ss how to do the task
- Ask Ss to work individually, read
expressions and decide which
expressions show agreement and
disagreement.
- Ask some Ss to give the answers.
- Check the answers with the whole
class and give correct answers.
- May elicit more expressions.
Agreements Disagreements

Whole class, look at the picture and
answers the questions:
Answers:
- There are four people in the
picture.
- They are swimming.
- Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.
- I don’t think so ,I think they are
playing aquatic sport.
- Listen and take notes.
- Work individually, read the
expressions and decide which
expressions show agreement
and disagreement.
- Explain the answers in front of
the class.

2. While - speaking:
Task 2: Practice reading the dialogue.
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to practice
reading the dialogue.
- Call on some pairs to practice the

dialogue aloud.
Model:
A: Let’s go camping.
B: Yes, I think it’s a good idea. Then we
can enjoy spectacular scenery.
C: That’s a good idea, but have to eat
bread for two days, which is not very
pleasant.
Task 3: Work in group. Making dialogue
- Ask Ss to read the phrases in the
Task carefully and make sure the Ss
know the meaning.
- Ask Ss to use the reasons in the
Task to continue the discussion.
- Remind Ss to show their agreement
or disagreement and give the
reasons.
- Ask Ss to in groups to do the Task
- Make the model with some good Ss.
- Go around the class to check and
offer help, collect some common
mistakes for later correction.
- Take notes.
- Read the phrases in the task
carefully.
- Work in group, use the reasons
in the task to continue the
discussion, show the agreement
and give the reasons.
Samples:

1. We have decided to go camping
because all of us can get close to
nature. We can have a lot of outdoor
activities and can become more
active.
2. We have decided not to go
camping because if we go camping
for two days we will have to hire a
bus, which is expensive. Moreover
- Call on some groups to act out the
dialogue.
- Give comments and correct the
mistakes.
3. Post- speaking:
Task 4: Reporting the discussion.
- Ask Ss to remember and report the
discussion to the whole class and
give reasons why they agree or
disagree about the camping trip
- Ask other Ss to give comments
- Give feedback and final comments.
III. Consolidation
- Summaries the main points of the
lesson.
- Remind Ss know how to express their
opinions about agreement and
disagreement.
IV. Homework.
- Write a dialogue and give the
reasons for agreement or

disagreement.
- Do exercises of unit 14 in
workbook.
- Prepare lesson 3: Listening.
