Firstly I'd like to say that life without a hobby is a very boring life. To my mind hobby

collecting, photography, reading, crafts, knitting, cooking, pet care, dancing.
My favorite hobby is travelling. Travelling is a fascinating way to discover and know the
new things. I started to travel with a family from 8 years. My travel must be interesting
because visiting a new place makes me know something new, a new natural environment,
new people with which I can talk.
The best countries where I was - Spain, Belgium, Germany, Denmark. In these countries
there are a lot of places for visit and to learn a lot of new to itself. Whenever I travel
round a new place, I take my camera and shot interesting pictures of building,
monuments.
All in all I love my hobby! I like to travel. I think travelling is useful and instructive. Well
when the person has the hobby
3. Why are good books considered as good teachers and friends?
It is often said: “Tell me what you are reading and I will tell you who you are”.

1
For me, a good book is always a good teacher guiding me through life as well as a true
companion encouraging me and consulting me in my desperate straits.
In fact, interesting books are a source of invaluable knowledge to those who want to
master everything they haven’t known before. Through masterpieces all over the world
we can realize the whole outstanding culture and civilization of mankind in every aspect:
literature, science, sociology, anthropology, technology and economics.
Nobody denies the important role of good books in developing man’s knowledge. The
more we read valuable books the more we become wise and experienced. By reading
books, we can get rid of all prejudices and narrow-mindedness. We can no longer live in
The Ivory Tower like a recluse and therefore we can get along with other people around
us easily.
Next, good books are true companions who always share our joys and sorrows in our
daily activities. Are you in low spirits and disappointed in your affairs? Read wise advice
through books by profound scholars and authors. Are you sad? Read subtle humorous
stories of well-known humorists in the world. All your sorrows and disappointments will
vanish at once.
In summary, good books help us train our personality. They help us distinguish the Good
from the Bad and they lead us to the True, the Good and the Beautiful.

Tet Holiday is the biggest annual celebration of Vietnam which is hold on the first 3 days
of lunar New Year. During these days, people are welcome a new coming year with good

and celebrate together.
The preparation for Tet holiday is taken place very soon because it requires many
steps(this sentence has no grammar mistake; however i think the idea is not really good), .
All members of families clean and redecorate their houses together. Then, they also buy
food, drink such as cookies, sweets, candied fruit, melon seeds and then store them in
refrige to offer their guests and to store because inon this occasion, many all shops are

closed. A branch of peach flower or a kumquat tree cannot be absent from every home
during these special days. Children are the most eagerest, as their parents will buy them
new clothes because, they will have new clothes and are given lucky money for their
relatives. In addition to buying things, manyall Vietnamese families make Chung cake,
2
pickled onion, frozen meat, which are our country's traditional foods on Tet holiday. We
decorate ancestral altars with a five-fruit tray, vegetables, sweets, and flowers.

In the last day of the previous year, people become more excited as they feel that the New
Year is very near to them. Everybody all waits for the sacred moment when the clock
points 0 am and fireworks light up everywhere to wish for health, lucks and happiness in
the next year. Streets are extremely crowded. On contrary, in the first morning of the year,
everything seems peaceful and quiet as people want to sleep longer to enjoy the moment
with their cozy family. However, there are some families getting up early to come back to
their hometown to visit their ancestors' graves and relatives. From noon on, everybody go
to their neighbors' houses to wish them a happy new year. Children in new clothes are

very excited, as they will get lucky money from adults.
There are many activities to welcome new coming spring in this occasion. Children
usually take up pens to write their first essay, hoping for good results in school. In spring
festivals, everyone especially the young takes part in the traditional games such as
rollercoaster, tug of war, cooking rice, cock fighting etc. to express their happiness while
farmers wish for bumper crops. Women often go to pagodas to show Buddha their hearts
and wish their families good things and power to avoid bad lucks. During the first days of
New Year, Vietnamese people do things that are supposed to be good for themselves and
their loved ones such as wearing red clothes, buying salt, taking chance or praying and
avoid saying taboos(related to death, breaking ). Each region in Vietnam has it own
customs to celebrate Tet, which are very special and unique.
3
"Tet" is the word that is very familiar to Vietnamese people whenever we think about our
country. This is the time for family reunion, for festivals, and for people to give love to
their loved one. As for me, I enjoy the warm and cozy Tet's atmosphere when all members
of my family stay and talk together.

me, after careful consideration, I want to become a construction engineer.
In our country, after long years of atrocious war, many houses, villages, bridges and roads
were destroyed by bombing They all need to be repaired or rebuilt. After graduation, I'll
contribute my part to the reconstruction of my war torn country into one of the most
modern and powerful countries in the world.
How happy I feel when I am able to turn slum areas into blocks of high buildings, to bring
happiness and joys to my poor compatriots!
How proud and delighted I am to build high-ways, bridges and factories for my city
dwellers by the sweat of my brow'

8. Tell a foreigner about Vietnam, your beloved homeland.
Vietnam is a long, narrow strip of land in the shape of a letter "S". We, Vietnamese,
compare our country to the shape of a dragon with the long narrow regions of theCentre
forming the slender body, and the regions of the North forming the head, maneand front
legs. Vietnam has a total territory of 332.000 square kilometers, and acoastline which
meanders along the immense Pacific Ocean.Being of a peace-loving nature the
Vietnamese people nevertheless know how toreact vigorously against adversities to
defend their homeland. Fiercely protective of their independence and sovereignty for
2.000 years, they are also welcomingforeigners who come as their guests. Most visitors
who come to Vietnam are overwhelmed by the sublime beauty of thecountry's natural
setting. The Red River Delta in the North, the Mekong River Deltain the South and almost
the entire coastal strip are a patchwork of green rice fields(paddy-fields) tended from
draw to dusk by peasants in conical hats. Visitors will alsohave the opportunity to
experience the energetic and purposeful performance inrevitalizing the Vietnamese
economy by the Vietnamese. They will have their sensesthrilled by all the sights, tastes
5
and smells of a society born of over a century betweenan ancient civilization and the ways
of the West.Despite the ravages of war in the past, the Vietnamese people are now
determined torebuild their homeland, making it many times as rich and magnificent as it
used to befollowing Uncle Ho's teaching.

with the salutation with a smile and enthusiasm of these people here. Visitors would have
been to Hanoi, it is likely to the second here. Come on Hanoi Vietnam!
10. Activities that people often take up when they go on holiday.
The holidays are a great time for families to gather together and cherish quality time. Do
you often get caught up with the bustle of the holiday season? Busy work can lead to
being excluded from festive celebrations and quality family time you don't want to miss.
Don't get caught up in the stress of holiday busy work; plan ahead, organize your time and
enjoy your family this holiday season.
6
It's a yearly family reunion at my home during the holidays. We all get excited about the

festive activities we will be participating in prior to Christmas. With the all the activity it's
difficult to find time for shopping, wrapping, cooking, cleaning and squeezing in quality
family time. I have learned some simple steps in relieving holiday stress by preparing
holiday activities in advance.
Prepare baked goods, meals, preserves and candies in advance. Freeze preparations until
needed. This is a great opportunity to create special gifts for your family by preparing
their favorite meals and treats.
Coordinate a schedule and write upcoming events on your calendar. Organize reservations
for restaurants, purchase tickets for shows and make proper arrangements for other
activities in advance.
Take up the offer when family asks to help. They wouldn't ask if they didn't want to be
included. Sometimes the help received during the holidays will become a cherished
memory. I have many fond memories of time spent in the kitchen, decorating or wrapping
presents.
Children love to participate in decorating. Allow them to have free expression by
designating an area where they can contribute to the holiday decorating. This is something
they can look forward to every year with a sense of holiday tradition.
Keep hand-made decorations to use again next year. I love keeping my children's seasonal
artwork. I smile each year as the keepsakes bring memories of my children's first
Christmas, tiny hands or a first snow experience.
Consider using paper plates for some of the meals. A lot of time is spent washing dishes in
my home. It's a great treat to myself to receive a break from dish duty every once in
awhile. I would much rather sip hot cocoa and listen to holiday music among my family.
Try to get all your shopping and wrapping done early, you have all year! In this case, I
still have much room for improvement, but I know it's doable!
Cut corners to relieve holiday stress anyway you can. Make this holiday simple and
enjoyable for everyone. Resist the urge to take on big loads to impress. You won't regret
spending joyful time with your family.

11. The means of transport that most people prefer. Why?

People prefer to use their own transport nowadays
Topic:-People prefer to use their own transport nowadays. What could society do to
encourage people to use public transport?
Utilization of private transportation is one of the major problems that the world is facing
today. If immediate and consequences and measures are not taken to tackle this problem, the
consequences would be unimaginable. However, in order to find right remedies firstly, the
real reasons must be unearthed.
There are several factors responsible for great usage of private transportation. The most
important reason for this problem is, it is becoming like a passion. Mostly youngsters use
their own vehicles to showoff. In the same vein, travel on private transportation is largely
attributed to avoid the environmental effects. To escape from the sun powerful rays and the
acid rains, People are using their own transportation to reach their exact destination. Daily,
lacks of vehicles are bought by the people in the world.
But how can this problem be countered? Firstly, I firmly believe that, government should
increase the public transportation. Why because people may not have time to wait for the
government vehicles. And also, People can travel by having a seat. On the same lines, it is
strongly recommended that government should hike the petrol and diesel prices, and also
reduce the prices of public transportation. By this, utilization of private vehicles will decrease
and prefer public transportation.
Unless concerted and war-footed efforts are made to address the malady of surge in private
vehicles use, there will be more traffic jams and burgeon of global warming.
Vietnam’s Railways
The railway system in Vietnam is operated by the state-owned Vietnam Railways
(Đường sắt Việt Nam). The principal route is the thousand-mile single track North-
South Railway line, running between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This was built at the
metre gauge in the 1880s during the French colonial rule. There are also standard gauge
lines running from Hanoi to the People’s Republic of China, eventually leading to
Beijing, and some mixed gauge in and around Hanoi.

12. What are the possible effects of climate change on Vietnam? What can we do to reduce

the negative effects of climate change?
Planning for climate change in Viet Nam
Planning for climate change in Viet Nam The IPCC has predicted that the Mekong Delta,
including Tra Vinh Province, will be among the regions affected earliest and most
severely by rising sea levels and saltwater invasion of agricultural land, and by an
increasing number of extreme weather events such as flooding after heavy rains. The
consequences of global climate change will not only undermine efforts to reduce poverty,
but are likely to exacerbate poverty by destabilizing agricultural activities in the region.
An IFAD-supported multisectoral programme includes work with national and local
government bodies to integrate climate change issues into local agricultural and rural
development planning and poverty reduction strategies, and increase adaptive capacity in
the region. In this regard, a climate-proofing tool is being integrated into the market-
oriented commune planning process. During the upgrading of agriculture value chains,
measures are being promoted that show a high potential for climate change adaptation and
possible mitigation. They include “climate-smart” cultivation methods, such as the system
of rice intensification and introduction of new salt-resistant varieties, and also post-
harvest measures such as using airtight seed storage bags.
13. Give brief description of someone who has the most influence on you in your family.
My Dad - A Person That Has Influenced My Life
Hi everyone. This is first time i post my essay in this forum. I hope everyone can read my
essay and please give me comments. I appreciate your helps.
A Person That Has Influenced My Life
The person that has influenced my life is my dad because he is the one that get to know
me best and is also the one that I see the most and have known for a long time. He always
stands by my side, and whenever I fall down, he encourages me to stand up by myself and
on my own feet. My family is not a wealthy family. Therefore, my dad tries to save single
penny he earns from work to buy anything that I need, and he always encourages me go to
school because he knows that the value of education will determine the future of the
person. As a result, I admire him as a great person and have thought that my dad is really
superman. My dad has a huge impact on the way I become a person today. He has

influenced my life by teaching me the lessons and showing me the right behaviors and
wrong behaviors.
9
My dad taught me the most important lesson: how to be a man. I still remembered the
day that my father sat next to me and said that "Hey son, the most important think to help
you become the successful person and the helpful person is your honesty. Never lie to
anyone and never lie to yourself". After saying that, he slowly explained the value of
honesty. He showed me that every bad situation in the world began with a lie. When a
person steals something, he lies to the law, or when a husband cheats on his wife, he lies
to his wife. My father often tells me that being a man means facing the truth. I always
think back on those words when I get into trouble.
My dad's teachings were a cure for my selfishness. He taught me to consider everyone as
a part of my family and taught me how love people by sharing and giving. I believe that
the biggest fantasy in live is to buy someone something he really needs and watch his
facial expression. When I was a kid, my dad and I used to go to Chuck E. Cheese to play
games. He always bought me some food after leaving that place. One day, on the way
home, we saw a homeless man who said that he had not eaten anything for three days, and
asked me for the food that my father bought for me. I immediately refused to give him the
good that I had and kept going with my dad. Unexpectedly, my dad held my hand and
stopped walking. He asked me why I did not give the food to the homeless man. Of
course, I answered that I was so hungry after playing the games, but I saw that my dad did
not feel good when he heard this answer. He looked straight to my eyes and said if I gave
my food to homeless man, I still had the food at home. The homeless man had not eaten
for days, and he was so hungry. After hearing the explanation from my dad, he gave me
the chance to decide if I would give my food to the homeless man. I gave the food to the
homeless man reluctantly. The homeless man expressed thanks to me. However, when I
saw him receiving the food, I did not why that I have feeling that I pleasure in doing this
and realized that I had done something good for society. When we got home, my dad told
me that he was happy when I give the food to that homeless person. Furthermore,
sometimes I took money from my own savings and buy McDonalds food for a less

fortunate person and watched him enjoying his meal from a place where he could not see
me. I could see more the impact of his teaching during the camp when we ran out of
resources, and I shared my personal food with all my campmates. After listening the
teaching of my dad, I realized that receiving is good, but giving is better.
From my place I am thankful for everything he taught me. He taught me things that I
need or was going to in life. I am what I am because of him and whatever I will achieve in
my life will be credited to him. I believe that my dad will always be with me even after
his soul leaves his body; he will be there through his teachings that I believe are my duty
10
to pass on to my children. He will be there through me; when the people see my
remarkable success one day, they will know the value of his teachings. He taught me
everything about life; hope, faith, and the long journey ahead. To me he is the greatest
hero.
14. Describe your native village and state your reasons why you love it.
Although my village is small, it's very beautiful and lovely.
My village is divided into 4 hamlets which are directed and supervised by heads of hamlet
who are m charge of and responsible for the activities of their hamlet.
In the middle of the village stands an ancient pagoda where the villagers gather to make
offerings to the God of Agriculture on the 15th day of the first lunar month. On the left
flows peacefully a blue and clear river where I used to take a swim on hot days when I
was young.
Almost the houses in my village are built on high ground to avail floods in the rainy
season. The villagers live chiefly on agriculture. All year round they cling to their soil,
thinking of the best ways to force their soil to produce more food and vegetables to their
families. They get rich owing to their creative work and industriousness. The harvest time
is the merriest and busiest season of the year.
How I love my native village! It's in this nice and lovely place that I was born and have
grown up and spent wonderful days of my childhood. It's the cradle, the paradise of my
whole life!
15. What do you think of the weather in Viet Nam?

There are 3 regions in Viet Nam: north VietNam, south VietNam and middle Vietnam.

middle Vietnam.
What which season do you like season in a year. iI love winter because the winter it is
beautiful and the cold of winter will be make people near together. it is not too cold ,so
there isn't snow in the winter in vietnam. In winter we get to usually wear warm clothes

Ninh province. beside the city of the easten is the Ha Long bay, one of the most wonders
of the world. Ha Long is 150 km far from Ha Noi into north-east. when i was a child, my
hometown is very quiet and peaceful, there wasn’t too much houses, car and people. Now
which the developement of tourism and economy, my hometown is changing day by day.
Now people in my home town has more chances to be rich by working in tourism
services.

Bài 2
Haiphong is located in the delta of the Red river. It is approximately 100 kilometres
fromto Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital of Vietnam, and serves as the primary seaport for
the northern region of the country. My city is famous for a lot of fascinating scenerys,
especially Doson beach. In the city center, the life is very busy. There are a lot of busy
streets with shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, supermarkets, cinemas, hotels,…Besides,
there’re some quiet and dreamy streets with cordons, parks, lake…,too. Haiphong not
only has the sea but also has the mountain, exemple: Elephant mountain. Although I go
away, Haiphong is always in my heart forever.
17. Describe the advantages of living in the country and the disadvantages of living in the
city.
Although I've spent most of my life in the city, I always prefer to live in the country rather
than in the city.
First, living in the country we can enjoy fresh and pure air all year round whereas the city
atmosphere is seriously polluted.
Second, we can live a safe and peace full life in the country while townsfolk are often
obsessed with sudden deaths caused by careless drivers and fool hardy motorcyclists.
Third, nothing can be compared with beautiful sceneries at dusk and at dawn in the
country side. They help us relax wonderfully after a hard day's work while the
debaucheries in prostitute houses in beer shops and dancing-halls are ruining
townspeople's body and soul.
Four, nowadays, with the extensive electricity network, country life isn't less comfortable
and civilized than town life.
12
In a word, we can enjoy the clean atmosphere, the closeness to nature and the gentle pace
of living in the country whereas the city life with its evil influences spoils and poisons
townsfolk's minds.
18. What are the Television programs that you like best?
Nowadays, TV is a popular entertainment tool which is favored by all people around the
world. With a television connected to some channels such as K+, VTC, VTV, we can

easily access available programs that surely match our own hobbies. In terms of my
interests.
My favourite TV program is VN’s got Talent. It contains a lot of exciting and funny talent
performances (màn trình diễn tài năng). The three humourous examiners are Thành Lộc,
thúy Hạnh and Huy Tuấn. Thanh Bạch is the MC. The program is at 8p.m every Friday
evening on VTV3 channel. I particularly (đặc biệt) like it because it’s very interesting and
I always laugh a lot when I watch it. So I don’t miss (bỏ lỡ) any of its shows.
I like watching football on TV…
19. Give some advantages and disadvantages of travelling by airplane?
Nowadays, people have many means of transport to travelling such as bus, train, cars.
This means have much improvement and advantages. But, the number of travelers
chooses travelling by air is increasing about quantity. In fact, this choice brings us both
advantages and disadvantages.
Travelling by air has many advantages.
First, the plane is fastest means of transport. We can reach our destination in a few hours.
Flying speed is very fast. Therefore, it helps save time for passengers.
Second, we are provided with good services. The plane has many conveniences. We can
sit comfortably in an arm-chair, reading magazines or watching a free film on television.
And game for kids. In addition, we also served food, drinks. Steward and stewardess are
extremely friendly, enthusiastic and polite. When passengers sick, they are given
thoughtful care by professional nurse staff. Space is clean and quiet.
Third, we will enjoy beautiful scenery below. The island located mid vast expanse of
oceans. Big city becomes very small. Air travels give us a bird’s eye view of the world.
Next, when the plane take on or take off, we will very amazing. Flying is thrilling like
playing adventuresome game. In short, we have interesting feeling.
Finally, it is safer than other means because the plane is equipped modern technology.
Travelling by air also has many disadvantages.
First of all, this is the most expensive form of transport. A minority of people can afford a
trip by plane while a journey on land or by sea is much cheaper.
13

Second, if accidents happen, death rate will be quite high. It is easy influent by weather,
terrorism, hijacking and technical problems.
Third, the plane is also elective passengers. Unless passengers have strong health, they
will be airsickness.
Finally, formalities and procedures are complicated. We have to body check, custom
office check and so on.
In conclusion, travelling by air has some disadvantages. However, the advantages are no
denying the fact. With modern more and more improve. Travelling by air promises the
choice of everyone.
20. The difference between weekend and weekday activities.
The main difference between a working day and a weekend-day is that during the week we
must follow our duties. We can’t ignore what we are supposed to do. That’s why I am very
happy when the week ends and a weekend comes because I can do whatever I
want. I really look forward to sleeping late because I love lazy mornings. On Saturday and
Sunday my parents and I try to have a rest and enjoy ourselves a little bit. At the
weekends we love going for a trip to the mountains or just go for a walk behind the city. In
the evening I sometimes go to the cinema or to a pop concert with my friends but I
can enjoy staying at home too. The weekend is definitely better than weekdays!
