Agatha Christie’s biography
Agatha Christie was born in 1890 in Torquay, England. She was a very
famous writer and is known all over the world as the Queen of Crime. She began
writing at the end of World War I when she created the character Hercule
Poirot, a Belgian detective. Another important detective created by Agatha
Christie is an elderly lady called Miss Marple. Poirot, Miss Marple, and her other
detectives have appeared in films, radio programs, television films, and stage plays
based on her books.
Most of her books are detective stories which have clever plots. Among
her famous detective novels are Murder at the Vicarage (1930) and The Body in
the Library (1942). She also wrote several plays such as The Mousetrap (1952) and
Witness for Prosecution (1953). In addition to that, she wrote six romantic novels
under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott and a book of poems. She sold thousands

of books. Agatha Christie died in 1976 in Wallingford.
