Subject: Parking
Hello,
I visited your department store this morning to do some shopping. Your main parking area was full, and
your Kindle Street lot was under maintenance, so I had to park at the public lot on Nelson Street. This
was a little inconvenient as the walk from Nelson Street is uphill. However, I understand the situation
and the safety concerns involved.
I was very disappointed, though, when I had so much trouble getting my parking ticket validated at your
store. The clerk who served me claimed that she was not authorized to handle tickets for the Nelson

public lot. She told me I had to go to the information desk. Then, in turn, the person at the information
desk directed me to the casher’s office on the third floor. I finally got the ticket validated there.
The process was very confusing and complicated. I realize that today is the first day your employees
have had to handle parking validation for the Nelson lot, but please make sure your staff is fully aware of
your procedures in the future.
Yours,
Max Verlaine

Attention shoppers!
Following a routine engineering safety inspection, experts recommended that we have the ceiling in the
Kindle Street parking lot reinforced. As a result, this lot will be closed for renovation from the 13
th
to the
15
th
of this month. It will reopen again on the 16
th
. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
On the affected days you will need to use either our main parking lot or the nearby Nelson public lot. For
those of you who don’t know, Nelson Street is on the other side of McLean Park, and the public lot is
next to Kennedy Sports Center. We have made arrangements with the management at Nelson that will
allow us to validate tickets for that lot.
Thank you,
