Firemen, who are well- trained in special courses, have to work hard and really fast.

When the fire bell rings, they have to get ready quickly, jump up, get on their truck, and get to
the fire as fast as they can. As soon as the truck stops, the firemen divide into groups as their
plan. Some connect the hose (vòi phun nước), some others put up the ladders, others get ready
to run up the ladders with hoses and axes,…. Each fireman has to be on his own duty, and each
has to be done fast. Besides (ngoài việc) putting out the fire, they have to help people who are
burned or hurt. They must know how to help people who are overcome by smoke (bị ngất vì
khói). They must know how to do this by giving them help in breathing. Fast work by firemen
has not only saved many lives but also many thousands of dollars.
