My oldest friend is Sally. We met thirty years ago when we were both five years old.
It was my first day at school so I was very unhappy and I wanted my mother. Sally gave
me some candy and we became friends immidiately. We were together nearly everyday
until we finished school twelve years later.
Then I went to college, but Sally didn’t. She got married when she was just eighteen
and had three children. I studied for four years because I wanted to be an accountant. I had
a lot of new friends, and I didn’t see Sally very often. Sometimes we didn’t see each other

for months, but we often talk on the telephone.
Now I’m married, too. I live near Sally and we meet every week. She’s a student
now, and I have a baby, so we can give each other a lot of advice.

Teachers’ Day
Every year, on November 20

, all schools throughout our country celebrate
Teachers’ Day. It is a good time for students to show their love, respect and gratitude
towards their teachers. On the morning of November 20

, all students are at school to
attend the celebration and enjoy the music show played by our school band and other
students. After that we give our teachers beautiful flowers, cards and best wishes. We also
pay a visit to our former teachers in the afternoon.
I enjoy Teachers’ Day because it is on that day that we can show our gratitude
towards our teachers.

When Mark Twain was eleven years old, his father died and left nothing to his wife
and four children. Mark Twain had to leave school and look for a work. His elder was
working as a printer and he helped the boy to learn printing. For some years, he worked
as a printer for the town newspaper and later for his brother, who at that time had started
a small newspaper. The two young men published it themselves. Mark Twain wrote short
humorous stories and printed them for their newspaper. In 1853, Mark Twain decided to
leave home. He went to New York, and then to Philadelphia, where he worked as a
printer. When he was a boy, he dreamed of becoming a sailor. At 20, he found a job on a
boat traveling up and down the Mississipi, but he had to pay 100 dollars to get the job.
On that boat he learned the work of a sailor.

Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is a holiday on February 14th. It is the traditional day on which
lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine’s cards or candy
