One weekend, my parents decided to bring my brother and I to the recreational jungle. We were
very excited as we had not been there before. My brother and I talked about all the bears, tigers
and reindeer we were going to see. We really thought that a recreational jungle was like any
other jungle.
When we arrived, we dashed into the jungle, wanting to explore its length and breadth. We
obediently followed our parents at first but found it boring. Just then, a rabbit rushed out. I
screamed in delight and ran after it. My brother followed quickly behind. We kept running,
always keeping our eyes on the rabbit. The rabbit got tired of running and decided to hide in
its burrow.
It was only then that we realized that we did not know where we were. The trees looked
unfamiliar and there were no more jungle paths for us to follow. We were scared as we realized
that we were lost. Night was approaching and the hooting of the owl sent shivers down our
spines. I began to cry as I was feeling tired, hungry and sleepy. My brother comforted me by
letting me sleep on his lap. I soon fell asleep dreaming of bears waiting to eat me up.
Suddenly, I woke up. My brother was shaking me and telling them to get up. We could hear
voices coming our way ! We shouted with all our might that we were lost. We soon saw beams
of light from countless torches. Then we heard our parents' voices. We were safe! My brother
and I ran to our parents and embraced them emotionally. We were so happy to see them again
that we vowed we never wanted to be separated from them ever again.

A blind man was playing his harmonica under the overhead bridge. That day his music was sad
because three boys were annoying him. Suddenly, the threerowdy boys became quiet and ran
off. The blind man heard footsteps chasing them. He wondered why.
"Hand over your money now. You still owe me $50," a gruff voice said.
"I do not have any money. I've spent it all already. The blind man over there has a lot of money,"
the younger boy said.
"Don't play with me. Give me the money now or you will regret it."
Sounds of fighting followed. The blind man was shocked after listening to their conversation. He
told himself he had to report that to the police. By coincidence, his policeman friend, Rahman

passed by. The blind man quickly told him the situation. Rahman asked for reinforcement
through his walkie-talkie. He blew his whistle repeatedly. When the younger boys saw him, they
tried to run away. Another two policemen who came to help Rahman managed to catch the boys.
The extortionist was charged in court. The younger boys however were let off with a stern
warning not to associate with bad company again. They apologized to the blind old man and
promised to turn over a new leaf. Nowadays, you would often find them bringing snacks for the
blind man to eat. All would be chatting away like long lost friends.

August 24 was the birthday of Cathy's mother. Cathy wanted to give her something very special.
She had been searching for the appropriate gift but none was to her liking. At last, she saw one. It
was a beautiful pearl necklace. Her mother would look lovely wearing it. Then her eyes noticed
the price tag $800! Her shoulders drooped and she walked home feeling very disappointed.
That Sunday, Cathy and her family went to the beach. As she was walking on the beach, she
noticed a very beautiful shell, smooth and of a soft red hue. She had an idea. She was going to
make her mother a necklace using sea shells. Cathy then began hunting for similar looking
shells. She would need to collect as many shells as possible before she went home.
When she reached home, Cathy washed the shells carefully. Then she laid them out to dry. At
night, when everyone had gone to sleep, Cathy started stringing the shells. She wanted the shell
necklace to be as beautiful as the pearl one she had seen at the shop.
At last, the necklace was ready. She placed it in a box and wrapped it up. The next day was her
mother's birthday. Early in the morning, she presented the box to her mother. Her mother was
delighted to receive such a beautiful and delicate gift. she promised that she would wear the
necklace at her birthday party. everyone admired the beauty and uniqueness of the necklace.
Cathy was very pleased with herself especially when they praised her for being creative.
