Preparation is a
key
to a successful interview. Does the idea of going to a job interview make you feel
a little nervous? Many people find that it is the hardest part of the employing process. But it is not really
true. The more you prepare and practise, the more comfortable you will feel. You should find out as much
as possible about the company before you go to the interview. Understand the products that they produce
and the services that they provide. It is also good to know who the customers are and who the major
competitors are. “Practice makes perfect”. It will also make you feel more confident and relaxed. So,
practise your answers to common questions. Make a list of questions to ask, too. Almost all interviewers
will ask if you have questions. This is a great opportunity for you to show your keenness, enthusiasm, and
knowledge.
Make a great impression. The interview is your chance to show that you are the best person for the job.
Your
application

your skills and experience match this position and this company. The employer will be looking and listening
to determine if you are a good fit. He/she will be looking for a number of different qualities, in addition to
the skills that you possess. To make the best impression, dress appropriately; express your strengths; arrive
early, by about 10-15 minutes; be enthusiastic; shake hands firmly; be an active listener; sit up straight and
maintain eye contact; and ask questions.

Read the passage carefully and choose the best answers to the questions
Education is not an end, but a mean is to an end. In other words, we do not educate children only for
the purpose of educating them. Our purpose is to fit them for life. In some modern countries it has, for some
time, been fashionable to think that by free education for all – whether rich or poor, clever or stupid – one
can solve all the problems of society and build a perfect nation. But we can already see that free education
for all is not enough; we find in such countries a large number of people with university degree; they refuse
to do what they think “low” work; and, in fact, work with hands is thought to be dirty and shameful in such
countries. But we have only to think a moment to understand that the work of a completely uneducated
farmer is far more important than that of a professor; we can live without education, but we die if we have
no food. If no one cleaned our streets and took the rubbish away from our house, we should get terrible
diseases in our own towns.
In fact, when we say that all of us must be educated to fit us for life, it means that we must be educated
in such a way that, firstly, each of us can do whatever work suited to our brains and ability and, secondly,
that we can realize that all jobs are necessary to society, and that is very bad to be ashamed of one’s work.

Only such a type of education can be considered valuable to society.
1. The writer of the passage thinks that _____________.
A. education can settle most of the world’s problems. B. free education won’t help to solve social problems.
C. free education for all probably leads to a perfect world. D. all the social problems can’t be solved by education.
2. The writer wants to prove that _____________.
A. people with high education refuse to do what they think “low” work.
B. our society needs all kinds of jobs.
C. our society needs free education for all. D. a farmer is more important than a professor.

C. work with hands is dirty and shameful D. work with hands is the most important.

will sometimes look away for a few seconds when they are thinking or trying to find the right word.
But they always turn immediately back to look the listener directly in the eyes. These social “rules”
