THE YOUNG PIONEERS CLUB
Lesson 1 GETTING STARTED & LISTEN AND READ
I. Objectives:
1. Educational aims:
Students get acquainted with the topic “The young Pioneers Club”.
2. Teaching aim:
By the end of the lesson students can ask for favor and offer assistance.
II. Language contents:
1. Vocabulary:
Blind (a), elderly (a), handicapped (a), care for, take part in (phr. V), enroll (v).
2. Grammar:
- Modal verbs Can/ Could
III. Techniques: Eliciting, ask and answer.
IV. Teaching aids: computer, cassette, pictures, cassette, sub board.
V. Procedures:
Teacher’s activities
1. Warm up:
* Chatting:
- Ask students some questions about their activities and
their summer holidays.
+ What do you usually do on your summer holiday?
Students’ activities
-Answer.
+ Are you members of the Young Pioneers and Youth
Organization?
Are there any activity programs for the summer?
+ Do you take part in them?
+ What activity do you like best?
2. Presentation
T. shows a picture (a young pioneer help a disable people


cross the road) & introduces the dialogue “Nga wants to
join in summer activities of the young pioneers club”.
T asks students to guess “when was she born? Where
does she live? What are her hobbies?”
-Teaching some new words in getting started:
blind, elderly, handicapped, care for, take part in, enroll
* New words:
- enroll (v): đăng ký, tham gia
- fill out / in: điền vào
- application form: đơn xin việc
- outdoor activities (n): hoạt động ngoài trời
3. Practice
Students listen to the tape and repeat.
 T. corrects what they guess.
-Answer the questions

 Students describe what activities the young pioneers

Lesson 2 SPEAK
LANGUAGE FOCUS 3
I. Objectives:
1. Educational aims:
-Students know how to ask for favors and offer assistance
2. Teaching aim:
-Practice asking for favor.
-By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask for favors and respond to favor.
II .Language contents:
1. Vocabulary:
2. Grammar: - Simple present
III. Techniques:
Brainstorming, eliciting.
IV. Teaching aids: picture, cassette, cut out shark: text book.
V. Procedures:
Teacher’s activities
1. Warm up:
* Shark’s attack:
-Cut out a shark (or crocodile) and a schoolgirl/ boy
from card.
Students’ activities
-Play game

-Draw some steps, then stick the cut out girl/boy on the
steps, the shark is in the sea.
-Draw 5 gaps for the word-favor.
-Get students into teams (or ask them as a whole class)
for a letter in the alphabet .They have to try guess the
word. If their guess is wrong, the girl / boy has to step
down. If their guess is right, they will get one
mark .The game continues until students find out the
word-favor and the shark can’t eat the girl /boy.
2. Pre-Speaking:
-Ask students the meaning of the word FAVOR.

Lesson 3 READ + LISTEN
I. Objectives:
1. Educational aims: Students should take part in youth organizations.
2. Teaching aims:
Reading comprehension the passage about Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read for detail to know more about a youth
organization – Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Students will be able to complete a song.
II. Language contents:
1. Vocabulary: good citizenship (n), personal fitness (n), encourage(v), movement(n), aim(n),
officially(adv), organization (n), social (a), public awareness(n), guideline(n), establish(v),
worldwide (adv), although(conj), - unite(v), peace (n), hold hands(n).
2. Grammar: Simple present with future meaning.

Lesson 4 WRITE
I. Objectives:
1. Educational aims:
Students should participle in many society activities.
2. Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a letter about a future
plan using “be going to”.
II. Language contents :
1. Vocabulary : recycle, natural, resources, fund , raise fun, a bank .
2. Grammar : Be going to + Infinitive
III. Techniques: Eliciting questions , gap fill
IV. Teaching aids: Handout.
V. Procedures:
Teacher’s activities
1. Warm up:
*Revision of the structure : “Be going to”
-Ask students the usage of “be going to” (to express a
future plan).

-Get students to make the sentence : I’m going to +
Infinitive “The verbs have to begin with a letter from A to
Z.
2. Pre-Writing:
-Explain the new words:
* New words: recycle, natural, resources, fund, raise
fun , a bank.
Ask students some questions
-“Do you often write a letter to someone? Or Do you
receive a letter from one another?”
-Have students read the notice in page 58 then complete
the letter bellow.
