People who work in the British theater are often very superstitious. The usual
good-luck wish to an actor about to go on stage is to say “Break a leg” This may
seem to be a rather unkind thing to say to someone who is pro ery nervous. But
there is a reason for it.
Among actors,.it is thought that wishing for good luck will have the opposite
effect. Therefore, by wishing someone bad luck, the person hopes that the actor will
actuatly good luck
Actors also believe that noisy shoes will bring bad luck. Many theaters have a
theater cat because cats are considered to be lucky Bad luck can come from many
situations: from saying the last line of the play while rehearsing, to whistling inside
the theater.

The Nobel Prize was tablished by a Swedish inventor called Alfred Nobel. He

Bad weather comes in many different forms. One kind of bad weather is the
tomado. It is one of the most destructive of all the storms that we have on the eath.

The plane was late and detectives were waiting at the airport all morrning
they were expecting a valuable parcel of diamonds from South Africa. A few hours

building while others were waiting on the airfleld. Two men took the parcel off the
plane and camed it into the. Customs House. While two detectives were keeping
