Current Concepts in Pediatric and
Adult Congenital Cardiac Critical Care
Introduction

This one-day educational symposium will focus on the
innovations in the care of pediatric and adult congenital
cardiac patients. NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley
Children’s Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center
is a leader in best outcomes for pediatric and adult
congenital cardiac surgery providing cardiac care to
children and adults locally and internationally. Faculty
from this institution will address the perioperative best
clinical practices in these patients. This course will also
include Q&A and smaller breakout sessions to facilitate
attendee participation.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for adult cardiologists, pediatricians, neonatologists, pediatric cardiologists, cardiac
surgeons, intensivists, CCU nurses, cardiac nurses, cardiology fellows, critical care fellows, anesthesiologists,
hospitalists, perfusionists, and other clinicians who are
involved in the care of pediatric and adult congenital
cardiac patients.

Learning Objectives



• Gain an understanding of the latest developments and techniques in neonatal,
pediatric, and adult congenital cardiac surgery
• Review pediatric and adult congenital heart failure and treatment options
• Learn the different types of mechanical cardiac support devices and how they
are used
• Understand pediatric pulmonary hypertension and its management
• Learn the advances in electrophysiology and pacemakers
• Understand the indications and best practices in extracorporeal support in
pediatric critically ill patients

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University is accredited by
the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing
medical education for physicians.

AMA Credit Designation Statement

The College of Physicians and Surgeons designates this live activity for a maximum
of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit
commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital School of Continuing Education for Nurses is
