Triangular Numbers


A triangular number is the number of dots in an equilateral triangle
evenly filled with dots. For example, three dots can be arranged in a
triangle; thus three is a triangle number. The nth triangle number is the
number of dots in a triangle with n dots on a side. The sequence of
triangular numbers for n = 1, 2, 3... is: 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, 55,
...
The sum of the n first triangular numbers is the nth tetrahedral number.
Its formula is [n(n+1)(n+2)]/6. The sequence of numbers is: 1, 4, 10, 20,
35, 56, 84, 120, 165, ...
