Topic: Write a paragraph (200 words) to compare and contrast
organic farming and conventional farming.
Conventional farming and organic farming hold a wide range of similarities
on the matter of goals, but the discrepancy in farming process, cost,
product variety and influence on ecosystem is obvious towards
consumers. In terms of production target, organic farming bears much
resemblance to conventional farming. Such demands for food that both
parties share the determination to be the major food supplier for the
markets. Potatoes can be accounted as one striking example in America.
The organic farmers take advantage of that fact and produce the superior
branch of potato to the market while their counterparts are manipulating
the technology on this vegetable to double the yield. Despite having the
same goal, conventional farming adapts a different method of farming.
That the advancement in Biochemistry has promoted the use of chemical
fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and growth hormones to reduce labor
workload and increase productivity is now often associated with
conventional farmers. On the contrary, those methods are rejected by the
organic opponents. In stead of deploying chemical substances, they invest
their money and concentration on natural factors such as green manure,
organic grass for cattles and natural enemies of pest and weed which
serve as the protectors of crops. Such discrepant formulas has lead to a
distinction in effects on ecosystem. Conventional farming may be
preferable to Organic counterpart, but it poses a significant health risk to
the consumers and the environment. Buyers are likely to end up having
cancers due to the remnants of chemicals and soil is contaminated by
pesticides. On the opposite pole, as mentioned, the use of natural
ingredients has garuanteed consumers with food safety and toxic-free
products. Market price is another point contributing to the difference. The
use of labor and natural assistance has accelerated the cost of organic

products, whereas the conventional ones manifest no sign of soaring. In
conclusion, consumers are recommended to weigh the pros and cons of
both method to decide which is trustable.
