What do you think about cleaning beaches in Vietnam?
Recently there have been some campaigns of cleaning the beaches in Vietnam, and I

agree with the idea for several reasons. Firstly, sea pollution in Vietnam has become more
serious lately. Cleaning the beaches therefore would help partly solve the problem. Secondly, if a
large number of people can participate in the activity, the awareness of pollution and
environment in general would be raised among citizens all over the country. An example is that
more and more people are now talking about our polluted beaches and willingly join the
campaigns. Finally, cleaning the beaches would not only provide somewhere safe for us
Vietnamese people to relax, but also help improve our economy, because tourists from foreign
countries would only visit us if we can keep our sea clean and healthy. In conclusion, I agree
with the idea of cleaning our beaches because it will bring about many benefits for both our
health and economy.

Some people think that face-to-face communication is better than other types of communication,
such as telephone calls or online conversation, but I disagree with the idea for several reasons.
Firstly, modern communication methods are cheaper and faster. You can stay at home and talk to
someone who lives in another city or country through the Internet or the telephone, while if you

want to meet them face-to-face, you would have to spend much time and money travelling.
Secondly, it is not always possible to meet someone in person because they may be busy, while
communication technology helps you talk to anyone from anywhere at nearly any time. Finally,
modern types of communication help us keep in touch with our family and friends who live far
away. But for the telephone and online communication tools such as facebook or zalo, it might
take us weeks or months to hear from them.
3. What do you think about the sentence: "Television has destroyed communication
among friends and family”?
Some people think that television has destroyed communication among friends and
family, but I disagree with the idea for several reasons. Firstly, it is not fair to blame it on the

TV, because the TV is not the first means of individual entertainment in the house to be
invented. Before it we had others such as the radio and the newspaper, and there is no evidence
that they destroyed communication. Secondly, a large number of TV programs are about family
and friends. Therefore I believe the TV has actually promoted our relationships rather than
harmed them. Finally, the TV is a great source of topics for discussion among friends and family
members. For example, my family often gather in the evening and watch a good movie together,
and then talk to each other happily for hours and hours about that film. In conclusion, I do not
think television is harmful to social communication, but rather encourages it.

4. If you had the opportunity to visit a province in Vietnam for holiday, which
province would you choose?
If I had the opportunity to visit a province in Vietnam for holiday, I would choose Ba Ria
– Vung Tau for several reasons. Firstly, I like the sea, and the province has one of the most
beautiful beaches in Vietnam with bright sun, shiny sand and clear blue water. Besides, I heard
that the seafoods there are delicious and cheap. Therefore I hope that going there I would be able
to enjoy all of them. Finally, I have a close friend who lives in the province. If I visit it, I would
have the chance to meet him and we would do many things together, such as going for a walk
along the beach, building a sand castle, digging for shellfish, and so much more. In conclusion, if
I had a choice, Ba Ria – Vung Tau would be the province I want to visit the most.
5. With the help of the Internet, students nowadays can learn more information and
learn it more quickly.
Some people say that students nowadays can learn more information and learn it more
quickly with the help of the Internet, and I agree with the opinion for several reasons. Firstly, the
Internet is a great source of knowledge. It provides the latest information of nearly everything in
the world and therefore students can learn many new things from it. Secondly, there are many
online courses provided through the Internet and students staying at home can still easily attend
them so as to widen their knowledge. Finally, the Internet enables students to communicate
quickly with their teachers and friends, and this is very convenient for their learning. For
example, students can practise together through online communication tools and send their
homework to the teachers via email. In conclusion, the Internet is a powerful tool that helps
students much in their learning nowadays.

6. In about 150 words, write a paragraph about a book that you’ve read recently
Reading is one of my hobbies. The book that I recently read is 'Gone with the wind', a
novel written by Margaret Mitchell which was first published in 1936. The story is set in Georgia
and Atlanta context, Southern United States during the time of civil war and reconstruction. The
novel consists of five chapters. It tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, a Southern girl, who has to
find a way to survive the war and leads a difficult life in post-war time. I liked the book very
much and finished it within 5 days. Reading the story, what impressed me the most is the
resilience of Scarlett O'Hara. Margaret Mitchell possesses such en extraordinary story telling
ability that my eyes were glued to it from the very first page until the last one. “Gone with the
wind” is one of the best novels I have ever read, and I recommend it to anyone who is looking
for a true masterpiece.

important to you
My cellphone is very important to me because it is a special gift from my parents on my 16th
birthday My cellphone is a smartphone. It helped me stay connected with my family members
and my friends. With that small but powerful device, via the Internet, I am able to check my
emails, send and receive messages, talk to my friends living far away every day as well as watch
movies and listen to my favorite music. Sometimes, I take photos and then share them on
Facebook or Instagram, which is very interesting. Beside these, there are many other things I can
do with my cellphone, including taking advantage of applications for educational purposes,
reading e-books or using maps to find directions which prove to be extremely helpful because I
am not good at remembering street names. Because of its convenience, now my phone is just the
thing without which I cannot leave home. I love it very much.
