I. WARM – UP: 5’

My mother is cooking dinner while my father is reading a book.

II. GRAMMAR: 15’
* The Present Progressive (with the future meaning)
a/ Form:
- Affirmative:
S + am/is/are + V-ing
- Negative:
- Interrogative:

S + am/is/are + not + V-ing
Am/Is/Are + S + V-ing?

b/ Usage:
- The Present Progressive: previous arrangements have been
made, and the event is usually in the relatively immediate future.
Ex: The first term is coming to an end soon.
* Be going to
- The speaker has some sort of evidence of the future event,
either plans have been made or it is seen as inevitable from an
external viewpoint.
- To talk about planned actions and to make predictions.
Ex: I have saved some money. I’m going to buy a new computer.
Look at those clouds. It is going to rain.
