Establish a strong corporate culture and communicate it
Organizations that create a culture defined by meaningful work, deep employee
engagement and job and organizational fit will likely attract and keep top talent.
Culture is rooted in an organization’s values and reinforced by corporate leaders. That
said, companies need to clearly define their corporate culture and then ensure it’s
articulated, understood by employees and lived every day in the organization. To foster
culture, it’s important to have regular and candid communications and keep employees
informed of company news, charitable events, new hires, and more. This helps employees
feel that they are “in the know.”
Google, for example, in 2012, climbed three places to the top of the list as employees
fully embraced the company’s mission, culture, and perks of working there.
Get rid of the bad apples
Bad employees can create a negative work environment that often push the good ones to
leave. Every single person you hire is going to affect the working environment so you
want to make sure you’re only hiring the best. If you can’t fix a bad employee then get
rid of them, negative and unhappy employees in the workplace can be damaging to your
top performers.
Taking care of employee’s family
Many companies offer competitive pay and are worker-friendly. In a thriving job market,
employment decisions may come down to the benefits offered by the employer. Health
care is one of the biggest concerns for workers today and a good health plan with a
family option will entice many workers. Stock options, matching 401.000 funds, onsite
daycare options, and discount programs are other benefits that may increase good
employee retention.


Conclusion: It doesn't take a lot of effort to show your employees that they are valued
members of your company. If you implement a combination of encouraging words and
respectful actions, then you will be on the right track to retaining good employees.
