An adverb tells more
about a verb. An
adverb tells:
how something is
done.
when something
is done.
Most adverbs that tell ‘how’ end in –ly.
However, there are some that do not.
Example: The baby awoke late. (when)
He will come tomorrow. (when)
I will see you soon. (when)
He does his work well. (how)
Read the following sentences slowly.
Yesterday, the children played happily outside.
The verb in the sentence is played.
The adverb yesterday tells when the children played.
The adverb happily tells how the children played.
