Forming the Future Simple
Tense
To form the verb in the
Future Simple Tense you need
‘will’ and the base form of
the verb (infinitive without
‘to’ / V1).

Will or shall

We use 'will' with all persons.
With ‘I’ and ‘we’ we can use
'shall' instead of 'will'.
In modern English 'shall' is
seldom used with a future
reference. Here is an
example for the case when
we use it:
e.g.: Anne: I’m thirsty.


Kim: Shall I bring you
something to drink? (Here
it is used as a polite request
or suggestion.)
Usage
To promise sy sg
e.g.: I will always take care of
you.
To predict what will happen
e.g.: They will win the election.
To
make
on-the-spot
decision
e.g.: * ‘I’m hot.’ * ‘I’ll open the
window.’
To offer or request sg
e.g.: Will you help me, please?
To warn sy
e.g.: If you’re late again, I
won’t wait for you.
To suggest sg
e.g.: Shall we go to the
cinema?
After these expressions:
I think
I suppose
I’m sure I promise
I expect
I hope, etce.g.: I think he’ll

miss the train.
After these adverbs:
possibly
surely

perhaps, etce.g.: Hopefully
you’ll find him.
In conditional sentences in
the main sentence.
