Should government spend money on highways or public
transportation?
Should governments spend more money on improving roads and
highways, or should governments spend more money on public
transportation? When this question is placed in front of me, I find I
am really in a dilemma. After pondering it from several aspects,
personally, I think governments should spend more money on
improving public transportation.
The first reason for my propensity for improving public
transportation is that it is the most important form of transportation
in the city. . By public transportation system, people can reach any
place easily. Maybe a car can also carry them there, but do not
forget there are still many people who do not have a car. Children
cannot drive, without their parents` help, public transportation is
the only way they can rely on.
Another reason that I prefer to public transportation is that
developing it saves money and is more efficient. Compared with the
expenditure on improving roads and highways, developing public
transportation needs less money. While the city grows bigger and
bigger today, a well developed public transportation system helps
people save the time that they spend on way.
Finally, public transportation encourages a sense of community.
Although cars bring people a lot of convenience, they isolate people
from others. Public transportation is also convenient, besides, it
bring people together. People can know more about each other in
this way and even make new friends.
From what we discussed above, developing public transportation is
more beneficial. So I think I must support that governments should
spend more money on public transportation.
