Mrs Gasbag´s Hat
Mrs Gasbag went to see her best friend Mrs
Goff in the morning. She knocked at the front
door and Mrs Goff opened. Mrs Goff invited her
for a cup of coffee. Mrs Gasbag went in and
looked very sad. “What´s the matter with you?“
Mrs Goff asked. “Where is your lovely hat with
the lovely flowers on it?“

“Oh, dear,“ Mrs Gasbag answered “Yesterday I
met farmer Gimbel and his donkey. His donkey
saw my new, beautiful hat and came towards
me. This stupid animal tried to eat the flowers
from my new hat and knocked it down onto the
road.
Then he kicked my hat along the road. Mrs Guf
Now my hat is very dirty and the flowers
on it are dirty. I´m so sad.“
The two ladies decided that farmer Gimbel had to buy a
new hat for Mrs Gasbag. So they went to Mrs Gasbag´s
home to get the hat. The red and yellow flowers on the
hat were nearly black and the hat looked very, very old.
They took it and went to farmer Gimbel´s.

said “Shoo, shoo!! Go away you
silly donkey!“ “What?“ Mrs Goff
shouted. “What did you say to
me? You call me a donkey?“ “I´m

not talking to you.“ Farmer Gimbel
answered. “I´m talking to the
donkey.“

Then Mrs Gasbag showed her hat to farmer Gimbel. He
was very sorry. „You must buy a new hat for my friend
Mrs Gasbag!!“ Mrs Goff said. And farmer Gimbel said all
right, but he was very angry.
Mrs Gasbag and Mrs Goff went home. Mrs Gasbag put
her old hat into a box and also put a letter to farmer
Gimbel in it. Here´s her letter:

lot of flowers. When they wanted to take out the flowers
they saw that it was a new hat. There was a letter from
farmer Gimbel in the parcel too.
Mrs Gasbag read the letter.
