HOBBIES AND ACTIVITIES
Baseball hunting motor racing surfing tennis riding golf chess
parkour boxing dancing fishing yoga jogging soccer

1. Work in groups. One student chooses one of the leisure activities in the box. The others have to ask
questions to guess the leisure activity you have chosen. You can only answer yes or no.

2. What hobbies do other students in the class have? Find out who has:
- the most interesting hobby
- the most dangerous hobby
- the most expensive hobby

3. Think about the sports and activities done in your country.
Now answer these questions.
Do the activities involve teamwork or individual skill?
Do they involve or interest both men and women?
Do any of the activities involve collecting things?
Do you have a strong passion for them, a mild interest or no interest at all?
If there are any that you have little or no interest in, do you think people who enjoy them are strange?
How much time do you spend on your hobby or leisure activity?

4. Work in groups. You’re going to take part in a discussion about the following statement.
Hobbies are a necessary and important part of your life. People without hobbies are boring.
Group A: You agree with the statement. Make a list of points to support this view.
Group B: You disagree with the statement. Make a list of points to against this view.

5. A magazine is publishing a series of reports on hobbies. Write a report on your discussion for the
magazine.
Introduce the subject and say what it’s about.
The discussion was about the statement that hobbies are a necessary and important part of your life and
that people without them are boring.

Say your personal opinion and conclusion.
