Listening exercise

This lesson plan has been made for very young learners who have
not yet learnt to read.
1. Cut out pictures or ask children to cut them out.
2. Explain that you are going to describe a person and they
have to stick/place the picture on the right number.
3. Read the following sentences to them or let them read the
sentences themselves if they can read.

Number 1: This is my Grandpa. My Grandpa is wearing a red hat.
He is playing the violin. He loves music.
Number 2: This is me. I am playing outside. It is raining. I have my
blue umbrella with me. I am chasing a duck.
Number 3: This is my Mummy. My Mummy is wearing a red jumper.
She is drinking a cup of tea.
Number 4: This is my aunt. My aunt is wearing a black jacket and
skirt. She is talking on her mobile phone. She has brown hair.

Number 5: This is my Daddy. He is driving in his blue car.

Number 6: This is my pet dog. He is brown. He loves eating bones.
Number 7: This is my Grandma. She is wearing a blue jumper and
purple skirt. Grandma loves reading.

4. Ensure everyone has matched up the pictures to the
correct numbers.
5. Prompt students to talk about the pictures or to identify
family members e.g.
What is the Mummy wearing?
What pet do they have? Do they have a cat?
What colour is the Daddy’s car?
Does Granny like reading?
