Task 1.
The story of the race between the tortoise and the hare was retold by
a very old storyteller who didn’t quite remember every detail of the fable.
You should read it and find where something has accidentally been
changed.

WORDS
There once was a speedy hare who bragged
about how many carrots he could eat. Tired of
hearing him boast, Slow and Steady, the
tortoise, challenged him to a biking race to
decide who was better. All the animals in the
forest came together to cheer for Hare.
Hare was warming up for a
while and then paused to
rest. He looked back at Slow
and Steady Tortoise and
cried out, "How do you
expect to become an
astronaut when you are
walking along soo slowly?"
Hare laid down by the road,
thinking, "There is plenty of time to do my
homework for tomorrow." A moment later he
was busy solving algebra problems.
Slow and Steady just walked and walked. He
stopped just once before he came to the finish
line, to chat with a former sweetheart who was
cheering for him.
The animals who were watching cheered so
loudly for Tortoise, they woke up Hare.

Hare stretched and yawned
and tried to get a taxi, but it
was too late. Tortoise was
over the finish line.
After that, Hare always
reminded himself, "Don't

ORIGINAL STORY

The Tortoise and The Hare
There once was a speedy hare who bragged about how fast he
could run. Tired of hearing him boast, Slow and Steady, the
tortoise, challenged him to a running race to decide who was
better. All the animals in the forest came together to watch.
Hare ran down the road for a while and then paused to rest. He
looked back at Slow and Steady Tortoise and cried out, "How
do you expect to win this race when you are walking along soo
slowly?"
Hare laid down by the road, thinking, "There is plenty of time
to relax." A moment later he fell asleep.
Slow and Steady just walked and walked. He never, ever
stopped until he came to the finish line.
The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise,
they woke up Hare.

Hare stretched and yawned and began to run again, but it was
too late. Tortoise was over the finish line.
After that, Hare always reminded himself, "Don't brag about
your fast pace, for Slow and Steady won the race!"
