Some / Any
We use ‘some’ for positive sentences:
Ex. ‘I have some apples.’
We use ‘any’ for negative sentences and questions:
Ex. ‘I don’t have any homework.’
‘Do you have any colouring pencils?’
EXCEPTIONS!
We use ‘some’ for questions when offering or
requesting something:
Ex. ‘Can I have some water please?’ (REQUEST)
‘Would you like some dessert?’ (OFFER)
