Months
January
January opens
The box of the year
And brings out days
That are bright and clear.
And brings out days
That are cold and gray,
And shouts, "Come see
What I brought today!"
By Leland B. Jacobs
March
March wind goes out to
play,
He will have such fun
today!
When the boys and girls
come out,
He blows their caps and
hats about.
By Eunice Close
February
February, full of fun
Snowflakes surprising the
sun
Wind whistles wildly
Fragrant flowers form
mildly
By Marinela Reka
April
"A gush of bird song, a pattern
of dew
A cloud and a rainbow's
warning;
Suddenly sunshine and perfect
blue
An April day in the morning!"
By Harriet Prescott Spofford
June
"It is the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes
And pleasant scents the noses."
by Nathaniel Parker Willis
September
September is a time
Of beginning for all,
Beginning of school
Beginning of fall.
July
July brings the hottest days,
We cannot sleep and cannot
play,
We try to find a shady spot,
Not to be in the sun a lot.
October
October's the month
When the smallest breeze
Gives us a shower
Of autumn leaves.
Bonfires and pumpkins,
Leaves sailing down –
October is red
And golden and brown.
December
December comes with white snow
And cold winds begin to blow;
From the cold and starlit sky
Merry snowflakes fly and fly;
They fall softly in the night,
All are still, all are white.
By Margaret Wise Brown
May
"When April steps aside for
May,
Like diamonds all the rain-drops
glisten;
Fresh violets open every day:
To some new bird each hour we
listen."
By Lucy Larcom
August
The month of August
Is the month of fruit;
But remember, children
My fruit is not good.
Please, remember,
To wait for September.
By Alice Very
November
No sunshine, lots of rain,
No warm days, snow again!
No bugs or bees
No leaves on trees.
You must remember
This is NOvember!
