It is unwise to take travel documents and a passport with you when you go shopping or sightseeing.
Choose the flight that will take you to your destination by day.
Take a good first-aid kit.
Never put all your valuables in one place.
Don’t wear expensive jewellery when you go out.
Keep a note with the details of your documents.
Respect the traditions of the country you are visiting.
If you don’t know the language of the country you are visiting, take a dictionary with you.
Write the name of your hotel on a piece of paper in the local language so that you can show it to a taxi
driver or policeman if you get lost.

Many young people are anxious about travelling alone and visiting exotic and remote destinations. Here are
some points of practical advice to consider:
When you are travelling somewhere new, avoid flights that get you to a new destination late at night unless
someone is meeting you at the airport.
Learn the basics of the language of the country you are visiting, or at least have a dictionary with you.
Girls should wear a wedding ring to avoid unwanted attention from men and everyone should respect the
religion and culture of the country they are visiting and dress appropriately.
