She is reading a book and she is sitting at the table.
It’s 4:05, (five past four in the afternoon).
I think she is poor because …..
The rugs are multi-coloured.

There is one window.
There are two cats.
The vase is broken.
No. I think maybe she is a widow./Or maybe her husband is at work.
Yes. The vase is broken – maybe this shows that something is wrong in her life. Maybe she
has recently lost something – her husband? Her children might have left home. There are
two black cats – traditionally the companions of witches. Poppies – maybe her sons have
gone to fight in a war. The fact that she is reading – and, is she holding her hand to her head?
- shows that she is a Stoic and whatever befalls her, she will carry on. The old-fashioned
broom in the corner signifies her tidiness.
J) Maybe from last century. Not too old, she has glasses… and there is a clock up on the wall.
K) Strange! Very bright walls and light coming in, but there is a sadness about it…. The solitude
of the old lady…
L) I don’t know the real title– this is an example of Naïve Art. I took the picture from the
Youtube link provided.
M) I like it because….. I don’t really like it because….
