Writing to Persuade
When we write to persuade, we are writing to make someone else think or act the way we want
them to. Some examples of persuasive writing are letters to the editor, book and movie reviews, and
advertisements.
Advertisements are written to get us to buy or do something. They can be found in magazines,
newspapers and on posters.
Choose one of the example posters. Look carefully at the graphics and read the text.
What does the poster advertise? What is it trying to get you to buy or do?
