Adverbs of manner are words used to describe or modify verbs, telling us how things are done.
FORMATION:
• Most of them are formed by adding –ly to the adjective:
Quick quickly
Slow
slowly


If the adjective ends in –l, add –ly, too:
successful
successfully
real
really



If the adjective ends in –y, write –i instead of -y and then add –ly:
happy happily
easy
easily



Some adverbs are irregular:
good
well
fast
fast
hard
hard


early
early

POSITION: Adverbs of manner have different positions within a sentence.
ô They normally go at the end of a clause, after the main verb:
He speaks English well.

ô They can also go at the beginning of a clause, to catch the reader's attention:
Slowly, she opened the box.

ô It is possible to place the adverb before the verb, placing emphasis on the adverb:
He quickly finished his dinner.
