Much - Many - A lot of
These quantifiers are used to express the quantity of things or people. We
usually use much and manywith negative sentences and questions. In positive
sentences, we use a lot of or lots of.
Many is used with only countable nouns. It is used only with negative
sentences and questions:

He doesn't have many books.
•
Can you speak many languages?
•
We didn't see many children there.
•
Do you have many friends here?
•
I don't have many problems.
Much is used with only uncountable nouns. It is used only with negative
sentences and questions:
•
She didn't drink much milk today.
•
Do you have much work?
•
Did she have much money?
•
I've gained a lot of weight over the last year because I haven't been
doing much exercise.
•
Larry doesn't have much experience.
•
They don't have much time.
A lot of or lots of is used with both countable and uncountable nouns. A lot
of can be used in allsentences: positive, negative and question.

You don't need to get lots of sleep.
•
Can they earn a lot of money?
•
We drank a lot of cold water.
•
My sister spends lots of money.
•
Lots of dogs and cats exhibit strange behaviors before earthquakes.

Lots of animals on this planet are facing extinction.
