Borrow and Lend

It means to get or receive something
from someone with the intention of
giving it back after a period of time. It
is always followed by the object.

It means to give something to
someone for a short period of time,
expecting it to be given back. It is
followed by an indirect and a direct
object.

Mr Taylor borrowed £ 1,000 from the
bank to buy a new car.

Sarah lent her friend Sylvie a few
pounds to buy a TV set.
