Alexander Rybak
Alexander Rybak, a violinist, a singer, a composer and
an actor from Norway, was born on the 13 of May 1986
in Minsk, Belarus. Alexander represented Norway in the
2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. Rybak has
won the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with 387 points. He has achieved the highest
result in the history of Eurovision with his own composed song, Fairytale.
Rybak was born in Minsk, which at that time was in the Byelorussian SSR, in the
Soviet Union. When he was four years old, he and his family moved to Norway. He has
been playing musical instruments since the age of five, and he plays both the violin and
the piano now. His parents are Natalia Valentinovna Rybak, a classical pianist, and Igor
Alexandrovich Rybak, a well-known classical violinist. He lives in Nesodden outside of
the Norwegian capital Oslo.
Alexander was awarded a number of famous music Prizes. Now he is a singer, a
composer, a poet, a pianist, a violinist and an actor.
The song "Fairytale" was inspired by Norwegian folk music. It was composed and
written by Alexander himself. The song was performed with the modern folk dance
company Frikar.
