WEATHER AND SEASONS
There are four seasons in Hungary: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Spring months are: March, April and May. In this season nature awakens from its winter
sleep, trees and flowers begin to bloom. Typical spring flowers are: tulips, snowdrops,
daffodils and violets. The weather is getting warmer, it is often sunny but it rains a lot. It is
perfect time for going for walks and doing trips in the woods.
Summer months are: June, July and August. The weather is hot and sunny, people go on
holiday and children don’t go to school in summer.The days are getting longer so you can
enjoy sunlight as long as 8o’clock in the evenings.At weekends we go to the beach, sunbathe
or go swimming.
Autumn months are: September, October and November.The weather is changeable and
sometimes unpredictable in autumn but usually it is still not very cold.In the mornings we
often have fog and mist and it’s a wet season.School term starts in September .
Winter months are: December, January and February. It is the season of Christmas, the most
important family festival in Hungary. The days are getting shorter and it’s often really cold
and chilly in winter.We often have snow so the roads become slippery and more dangerous.
