Part A:
Conversation
Angel: Maggie, why didn’t you come to school yesterday?
Maggie: I didn’t because I was sick.
Angel: What was wrong?
Maggie: I caught a bad cold and had a high fever.
Angel: I’m sorry to hear that.
Tim: I want a sick leave because my stomach is funny.
Ivy: Come on! You’re not sick. You just want food.
Angel: All right! Let’s have beef noodles at the market after school.
Tim: I also want mango ice cream.
Maggie: What about you, Ivy?
Ivy: I don’t want to eat anything. I had a sore throat, and a headache.
And I still don’t feel well.
Maggie: Did you see a doctor?
Ivy: Yes, I did. I also took a lot of medicine.
Tim: My parents were out of town, so my grandma came to Hsinchu and
took care of me. She prepared chicken soup and apples for me. She
also brought mangos from Tainan. I can share with you all.
Angel: That’s very nice of you and your grandma.
Maggie: We can have a big dinner in your house!
