Adjectives ending in -ed
USE
Often used to
describe people’s
feelings.

EXAMPLE
I was so bored at the
lecture last night.

NOTES
Usually follow the verbs: to be, feel,
seem, look, etc.
These have the same form as the past
participle of a verb: bored, amazed, etc.

Adjectives ending in -ing
USE
Used to describe the
effect that an
experience/event has
on us.

EXAMPLE
The lecture last night
was extremely boring.

NOTES
These can be used before the noun or
after the verb “to be” and other linking
verbs.
