Raise and Rise

It means to cause something to rise or
become bigger or better.
This verb always has an object.
It is a regular verb: raise, raised,
raised.

It means to move upwards, to
increase or to become higher.
This verb never has an object.
It is an irregular verb: rise, rose, risen

The teacher raised his hand to tell the
children to be quiet.
