Vietnamese traditional celebration

Through thousands of year, Vietnamese have
celebrated thousands festivals each year. Of all the
festivals, Lunar New Year is Viet Nam’s most important
festival. It’s the grandest and most important occasion
in the year which usually falls between 19 th January and
20th February on the Western calendar. Tet marks the
beginning of the spring and the start of a new year.
Traditionally, Tet’s preparations and celebrations
used to be spread over months but nowadays, Tet
holiday is much shorter. A great deal of excitement still
builds up before Tet, however. Streets are decorated

with coloured lights and red banners. Shops are full of
foods. People are busy buying gifts, cleaning and
decorating house and cooking traditional food. Home
are often decorated with plants and flowers at Tet time.
Peach blossom is traditional at Tet in the North while
apricot blossom is traditional in the South. The
kumquat tree and longevity flower is also popular
throughout the country. One of Tet’s most special foods
is Banh Chung which is made by sticker rice, green
bean and fatty pork. Muts, which is candied fruit such
as sugared apples, bananas, plums, coconuts, are also
popular.

Besides,

Vietnamese

also

have

other

traditional foods such as “thit kho tau”; “dua muoi” at
Tet time. After New Year Eve, people rush to the streets
to watch fireworks and hurry home after that. When

everybody gets together, they wait for welcoming and
exchanging time from the
old year to the new one and gives best wishes to
others. On the day of Tet, everyone tries to be nice and
polite to each other. People believe that what they do
on the first day of year will influence their luck during
the whole year. Thus, only positive comments should
be made. People visit other family members, relatives
or friends and exchange New Year’s best wishes.
Children receive their lucky money inside red
envelopes. Many people go to pagoda to pray for a
happy year for themselves and their family. Both
children and adults take part in games and various
forms of entertainment.

Actually, Tet is the time of fun and festivals

throughout the country. This traditional celebration will
always be celebrated by every Vietnamese generation.

“It is said that modern technology makes it
easier for student to learn”

In no way can sensible people deny the
marvellous

advantages

of

modern

technology

achievements that have large effects to our living. It is
really true that modern technology makes it easier for
students to learn.
Actually, living in an electronic information age,
students can more easily approach to human’s
achievements. People possibly look up information that
they’re concerned on the internet. The existence of
technological achievements makes it the ideal abilities
to store a wide range of information. On accessing to
databases that store information, students may find
almost necessary things which used to be stored only

in books. Without the helps of these technologies,
students hardly make progress on their studying.
Imagine that how hard an Asian student finds
information stored in a European book. Without the

internet, students hardly know about faraway places
and new things.
Obviously,

thanks

to

the

widespread

of

technology, students can save their time as well as
money for studying. In stead of staying for hours in
libraries, you can comfortably stay at home, use your
computer to look up information or discuss many
topics with other students. You probably relax
whenever you want. Thanks to this way, you can save
your time as well as your money and study more about
what you like. You also practice essential skills through
technology

such

as

your

English

skills,

your

communicative skills and so on. Moreover, studying
through modern technology is not only convenient but
also interesting. It provides students with many joys
and interest when studying.

In a word, technologies bring students many
opportunities to study. Beyond it advantages, there are
many disadvantages that simultaneously exist with
advantages that you need to avoid being associated
with. The more wisely you use these technologies, the
better you will be.

Topic 4
“Success and luck and hard work”

Success is the desire of most people. Indeed, to
succeed requires many affecting elements. Some
people believe that men succeed just because of hard
working. They don’t take the luck seriously. From my

point of view, not only hard working but the luck also
helps us to be successful.
Certainly, you’ll probably get success on
condition that you work diligently. No one can be clever
at a field without doing nothing. You have to attempt to
enlarge your knowledge as much as possible as well as
to practice your skill. Nothing is easy to achieve. You
need to spend your time and effort to experience on
life’s training in order that your abilities get more and
more perfect. Obviously, the more expect your ability
gains, the more successful you can be.
On the other hand, working hard helps people
to create opportunities called luck which plays an
important role of one’s success. When you are under
an uncertain situation that is not predicted, what you

can expect is luck. For instance of soccer teams in a
match, ones just win when they gather both players’
talent and their luck. No matter accomplished you are,
you hardly succeed without some luck. There are many
world’s inventions that were invented by accident in
lucky conditions. How could Mendelev create the
Periodic table while he was dozing? That is a
marvellous luck, isn’t that?
All in all, both hard working and luck are special
factors affecting man’s success. Compared with the
luck, hard working is the main factor because the luck
doesn’t come by itself. Therefore, you, first of all, must
work industriously afterward think of the luck.
