GIỚI THIỆU - INTRODUCTION
•

N gày nay Tiếng Anh và Web là hai công cụ cần thiế t để hỗ trợ đắc
lực cho công tá c nghiệp vụ T hông tin - Thư viện. Người cán bộ thư viện và
quản li thông tin sử dụng kĩ năng Tiếng Anh để khai thác và chọn lọc thông
tin và sử dụng công nghệ W eb để xử lí và trình bày thông tin. Hơn nữa,
người cán bộ thư viện và sinh viên ngành Thông tin - Thư viện phải sử dụng
thành thạo Tiếrtg Anh để tạo điều kiện cho việc đào tạo và tái đào tạo nhằm
bắt Kịp nhịp phát triển nhanh chóng của ngành Thông tin - Thư việ n trên thế
giới - C húng ta h ọ c Tiếng A n h đ ể s ử dụng Tiếng Anh.

Chương trình Tiếng Anh chuyên ngành dành cho sinh viên nói chung
và sinh viên ngành Thông tin - Thư viện nói riêng nhằm ba m ục tiêu chính:
1. C ủng cố và hệ thống hóa kiến thức ngữ pháp;
2. Phát triển m ột số vốn thuật ngữ chuyên ngành;
3. T ăng cường kĩ năng đọc và hiểu.
C uốn "A n h n g ữ thự c h à n h Khoa h ọ c Thông tin - T hư việ n = P ra ctice
E n g lis h in L ib ra ry a n d In ío rm a tio n S cience" âuợc biên soạn để đáp ứng ba
m ục tiêu trên. Nội dung gồm có hai phần :
Phần 1 : "E sse n tia l P ra ctice G ra m m a r: Verbs a n d S e n te n ce s - N g ữ
p h á p th ự c h à n h th iế t yế u : Đ ộ n g từ và C â u" bao gồm 46 tiêu đề phản ánh
ngữ pháp cần th iế t nhất, đặc biệt nhấn mạnh giải thích những công cụ giúp
dựng câu (sentence) và đọc hiểu câu. Có tất cả 8 công cụ bao gồm 5 nhóm
từ {phrase) làm chức năng bổ ngữ {modifier) và tương đương danh từ {noun
equivalení) là:

ngữ chuyên ngành Thông tin - Thư viện, đồng thời thực hành đọc hiểu bằng
những bài tập dựa trẽn 8 công cụ như được nhấn mạnh ở Phần 1, với số
vốn từ vựng chuyên ngành trong 10 bài đọc tiêu biểu của ngành Thông tin Thư viện.
C ác bài đọc bao gồm : "L ib ra ry P e o p le " g\ớ\ thiệu ngành nghề thư
viện nói chung và chức năng của người cán bộ thư viện; các bài "N a tio n a l
L ib ra rie s " và "A ca d e m ic L ib ra rie s " g\ở\ thiệu m ột số thư viện quốc gia lớn
trên thế giới, tổ chức và hoạt động của thư viện quốc gia và thư viện đại học,
và tẩm quan trọng đặc biệt của thư viện đại học trong việc nghiên cứu, học
tập và giảng dạy; m ột số bài tiêu biểu cho nghiệp vụ thư viện như
"C ỉa s s iỉic a tìo n ", "A s s ig n in g S u b ịe ct H eadings", "L ib ra ry C a ta lo g s", và
"R eíere nce S e ctio n a n d R eíerence B o oks", sau cùng là m ột số bài nói về
việc ửng dụng công nghệ mới trong sự phát triển ngành Thông tin - Thư viện

T w e n ty -F irs t L ìb ra ry " Phần từ vựng trong từng bài được giải thích m ỏt cách
đầy đủ từng từ gốc cho đến những từ dẫn xuất.
Mong rằng cuốn sách này là nguồn cảm hứng cho đồng nghiệp và

Là hai khái niệm khác nhau:

1. Sim ple form tận cùng bằng phụ âm và e câm, thì bỏ qua e trước khi
thêm ing.

2. Sim ple form có 1 syllable, tận cùng bằng 1 phụ âm (ngoại trừ w, h, y,
x), đứng trước là nguyên âm đơn độc thì gấp đ ô i p h ụ âm đ ó trước khi
thêm ing.
