Rocket Booster

Level: Pre-intermediate (A2) and above, teenagers
Time: 20 to 30 minutes
Aims: Revise collocations with the verbs make, do, have and get.
Raise awarenes about protection of endangered animals (griffon vulture)
Procedure:
Stage 1:
Draw four rockets on the board, with the boosters divided into four sections.
Write DO, MAKE, GET, and HAVE on each rocket.
Stage 2:
Divide students into two groups and tell them to stand in lines facing the
board. Explain that their task is to send some food by means of rockets to starving
griffon vultures living on inaccessible peaks of Valjevo mountains in Serbia. However,
the rockets cannot reach the mountains unless you add some fuel sticks to the
rockets boosters. The problem is that they cannot use the same fuel sticks for all
the rockets – they have to be matched. You will call out the names of fuel sticks and
teams will take turns to write them in the appropriate rocket. The team with more
correctly matched fuel sticks is the winner.
