And I also have a choice for myself
I want to become a obstetrician
Roles of an obstetrician
1. Prenatal Care
provide prenatal care for women and their babies before birth
2. Birth and Labor
Delivering babies and perform other birth-related duties as needed
Inducing labor
Performing cesarean
section births
Performing emergency
surgery when needed
Monitoring the mother and the baby throughout childbirth, and oversees the administration of
medications
Being alert to the patient and baby's conditions during childbirth and respond to changes
YOU KNOW
In US, if you want to become an obstetrician you must:
Completing four years of medical school to receive an M.D., or doctor of medicine degree
Taking the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination to obtain a license to practice medicine
Completing a four-year residency program and take the American Board of Obstetrics written
and oral exam to become board-certified to practice medicine as an obstetrician
Personal qualities of obstetrician
Emotional
Physical
In addition, you need:
Good communication skills
Taking on the role of counselor and confidante to some of your patients
