I. Objectives
1. Educational Aims: music makes humans different from the other animals and
makes our life more beautiful and diverse

1. Warm up
- T passes out handouts, whose content is the
lyric of a song, with some dropping words to
each of the student
- T asks Ss to work individually to choose from a
word box a suitable word to fill in each blank
- T has Ss listen to the song and check out the
answers
- T asks Ss to share the answers to each other
- T checks the answers. The student who get all
the right answers will get a ‘+’ mark
2. Pre-reading
Instruction: Who can tell me what topic we are going
to learn in Unit 12? That is “music”.
- T asks Ss to give the equivalents of the types of
music.
Instruction: Look at the pictures in the book. What
kinds of music are they playing?
- T asks Ss to work in pairs to match each type of
music in column A with its description in
column B
- T asks some Ss to give the answers
- T checks the answers and write down on the
board

Instruction: You are going to read a passage about
music. While you are reading, do the tasks in the book.
Task 1.
- T asks Ss to read the sentences in task 1 and tell
what the part of speech of each blank is. T
writes the answers on the board
Instruction: Now class, work in pairs, read the
passage in the book quickly, then complete the
sentences in task 1 with the words or phrases in the
box. You should stop at the lines that contain these
words to guess their meanings.
- T goes around for help if necessary.
- T calls on some Ss to answer. Asks them why
they choose the word.
Task 2:
Instruction: You are to quickly read the passage
again and answer the questions in the book.
