Zero conditional sentences

Ues: Dùng để nói về những sự
thật hiển nhiên, những sự việc
luôn xảy ra ở một số điều kiện
nhất định (các hiện tượng khoa
học)


Zero conditional sentences

Form:
 If + S + V(HTD), S + V(HTD)
E.g.
 If you put an egg in to the micro

wave stove, it explodes.
Note: “When” có thể được dùng
thay “If”
 When you put chewing gum in
to a cola bottle, the cola erupts.

Conditional sentences: Type 1

a) use: câu điều kiện loại 1 còn
được gọi là câu điều kiện có thực ở
hiện tại. Điều kiện có thể xảy ra ở
hiện tại hoặc tương lai.
E.g.
If you work hard you will get
promotion. (present)
If she comes, I will take her to your
house. (future)

b) Form:
 If + S + V (HTD), S +

will/can/may + V (inf).
 S + will/can/may + V(inf) + If +
S + V(HTD).
E.g.
If it is sunny, I will go fishing.
If she gets up late, she will miss
the bus.

Câu (điều kiện) mệnh lệnh.
Form: If + S + V1, V2
V2 if + S + V1
E.g.
 If you meet him, tell him to write to
me!
 Don’t go outside the harbor if the
wind is strong.


1. Câu điều kiện loại 1
Conditional sentences: Type 1

- Dùng để nêu một yêu cầu, một mệnh

lệnh mà người nói muốn người nghe thực
hiện nếu điều kiện được nêu xảy ra.
– Chỉ dùng với câu điều kiện loại I.
– Cuối câu ta đặt một dấu chấm than,
biểu thị cho thức mệnh lệnh.
– Mệnh đề điều kiện vẫn giữ nguyên,
mệnh đề chính sẽ được chuyển thành
mệnh đề mệnh lệnh bằng cách sử dụng
động từ nguyên thể và khuyết đi chủ
ngữ.

2. Conditional sentences :TYPE 2

a. Use: Câu điều kiện loại 2 dùng để
diễn tả một hành động (điều kiện)
không có thật ở hiện tại.
E.g.
If I were you, I would let him go.
(But I’m not you)
If I knew his address, I would give
it to you.
(But I don’t know)

2. Conditional sentences :TYPE 2

b. Form:
If + S + V(quá khứ đơn) , S
+Would/Could/Might + V(nguyên mẫu).
S +Would/Could/Might + V(nguyên
mẫu) + If +S +V (quá khứ đơn).
e.g.
If I were a bird, I would fly around the
world.
If he asked me, I would show him.


2. Conditional sentences: Type 2
Note : Động từ trong mệnh đề
điều kiện nếu là động từ tobe thì
ta dùng were cho tất cả các chủ
ngữ.
If he were free, he could come
and join us.
If she were at home, you might
see the light on.

3. Conditional sentences : Type 3.

a. Use: Diễn tả hành động (điều
kiện) không có thật ở quá khứ.
E.g.
 If I had been there, I could have
helped you.
(But I wasn’t)
 If I had agreed with him, he
wouldn’t have been so angry.
(But I didn’t agree with him)


3. Conditional sentences : Type 3.
b. Form :
 If +S +had +V(PII), S + would
(could, might) + have + V(PII).
 S + would (could, might) +have
+V(PII) +if + S +had +V (PII).
E.g.
 If he hadn’t helped me, I would
have failed.
 If it hadn’t rained yesterday, I
could have visited you.

4. Some other types

a. Mixed type 2 & 3
Form:
If + S + had + VPII, S + would +
V(inf)
Use: Điều kiện không có thật ở quá
khứ, kết quả ở hiện tại.

 Trong trường hợp này, mệnh đề If
chia động từ ở loại 3, mệnh đề chính
chia động từ ở loại 2

E.g.
 If I hadn’t stayed up late last
night, I wouldn’t be so tired now.
 You wouldn’t be so hungry if
you had had breakfast this
morning

The plane I intended to catch
crashed and everyone was killed.
If I had caught that plane I would….
- Mixed type?
 not be here now.
- Type 3?
 have been killed.

If I hadn’t argued with my boss
 I would be in a comfortable

office now.

 I wouldn't be sweeping the
streets now.

b. Cấu trúc đảo ngữ của câu đk
Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại 1:
 Should + S + V(inf), S + Will +
V(inf)
E.g.
 Should you come, I will give you
the ticket.
 Should he tells his girlfriend about
the truth, she will forgive him.

Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại 2:
 Were + S + to + V(inf), S +
Would + V(inf)
e.g.
- If I learnt Russian, I would read
a Russian book.
 Were I to learn Russian, I would
read a Russian book
