1. Concept
“Nhac do” or “red music”, is a kind of Viet Nam new music, consist of
song are composed in war. This concept appeared in 1990s, is used
popular in community. Because the symbol of revolution is red, so “nhac
do” means “revolution music”.
2. Main topics:
- Cheering fighting sprit of the people and soliders because of the desire
for peace and unified.
- Praising the Community Party Viet Nam, President Ho Chi Minh and
national heroes.
- Showing the spirit of struggle class.
- Praising the homeland, human, love couples associated with the task of
building and protecting the country.
- Promote the spirit of national construction during the war and the
period of renovation.
Those topics aren't separate but interdependent each other.
3. Level of popularity:
Based on the development of history, red music has 3 level of popularity:
- In caried out a war of resistance against the French colonialists and the
anti – American resistance war, red music was loved by both people in
northern and southern Viet Nam.
- In 1975, Viet Nam became united, “nhac do” was getting more and
more well-liked.
- After the renovation period, red music is the most favorite genre
although the compete by many types of music such as pop music,
EDM, classical mucis, etc...

Nguoi chien si ay, Ha Noi niem tin va hy vong, Thanh pho hoa phuong
