Hardware Setup
It is necessary to set domain and station numbers for the following switches before installing the software:
• Vnet/IP interface card (VI701)
• Field control station processor module (CP451)
• Vnet Router (AVR10D)
When the domain number and station number are correctly defined and the Unshielded Twisted Pair Cables (UTP) are properly connected,
the SND and RCV lamps turn on at power-on. If the RCV lamp turns on while the SND lamp does not, check the dip switch setting of the
corresponding card.

Vnet/IP Interface Card
• RDY lamp
This lamp illuminates to indicate that the card is working properly as the result of the periodic
diagnosis.
• RCV lamp
This lamp illuminates when a signal is received through Vnet/IP.
• SND lamp
This lamp illuminates when a signal is sent through Vnet/IP.
• Ethernet connectors
These connectors are used for connecting with the Layer2 Switch.
The connector type is RJ45 and the twist-pair cable type is CAT5e.

Installing the Vnet/IP Interface Card to a PC
The Vnet/IP interface card (VI701) is installed in the expansion PCI slot of a general purpose personal computer (PC/AT compatible). The VI701 connects the
computer to the Vnet/IP.
Installation Procedure:
1. Set the station address of VI701 interface card.
2. Turn off the power of the PC. For safety, remove the power plug from the power outlet.
3. Loosen the screws of the PCI slot cover and remove the slot cover.
4. Insert the VI701 interface card in the PCI slot and make sure that the card is inserted straightly in the slot.
5. Tighten the screws of the PCI slot cover so as to fix the VI701 card.
Remove Procedure:
1. Turn off the power of the PC.
2. Disconnect the cables for BUS1 and BUS2 from the
VI701 card. For replacement of VI701 card, there is no
need to disconnect the cables from the Layer2 Switch.
6. Connect the card with Layer2 Switch with the cables for BUS1 and BUS2. For this connection, there is no
need to turn off the power of the Layer2 Switch.
7. Turn on the power of the PC.
8. Confirm that the RDY lamp on VI701 card is on.
9. Write the station address to the sticker that comes with the VI701 and stick it on the front of the computer or
another obvious place.

3. Remove the VI701 from the PCI slot.
Setting Vnet/IP Station Address – VI701
The station address of a Vnet/IP is defined by a combination of a domain number and a station number.
The DIP switches for setting the domain number and station number are located on the printed circuit board of the VI701

Setting Domain Number – VI701
Set the domain number to 1 for a single network system.
Unless other specified, all bits are set to 0 (OFF) at shipment from the factory.
Domain is a range of stations connected by a single Vnet/IP. Bit 2 of the DIP switch is always 0.

Setting Action Mode – VI701
Using the DIP switches (SW4) on the printed circuit board, the communication mode and the redundant configuration can be setup.
Auto negotiation means the communication speed is automatically adjusted in accordance with the destinations speed as well as the local speed
setting and communication mode.

Attaching the Vnet/IP Station Address Label
Once the domain number and station number have been determined, the user should record the numbers on the station address label provided
with the VI701 and attach the label on the front or other visible place of the personal computer with the VI701 installed.

convert it into NTFS and then reinstall the operating system. Other partitions should also be formatted into NTFS

Windows 7 – NTFS Format
If the partition is in FAT format, it is necessary to convert the partition into NTFS format. The disk partition format can be confirmed as follows:
On Windows Explorer right click the local disk icon, then open the properties sheet of the disk. If the file system of the partition is FAT,
(confirmed on the properties sheet,) do the following:
1. Choose [Start] - [All Programs] - [Accessories] - [Command Prompt] of windows to open the command prompt window.
2. Type in the following command scripts:
CONVERT <Drive>: /FS:NTFS
Example:
CONVERT C:/FS:NTFS
Then the process to convert the partition from FAT to NTFS starts.

Windows Setup – Virtual Memory Paging
The virtual memory size should be at least 300 MB if the System Builders are not used, and at least 400 MB if the System Builders are used.
Right click on [My Computer], then choose [Properties] or by choosing [Start] - [Control Panel] - [System].
Select [Advanced], [Settings] of Performance, [Advance] Tab, [Change] of Virtual Memory.
Input “Initial Size” and “Maximum Size” as a same value, click “Set.”
If there is no space in the Windows start drive, use another drive so that the total size will be least 300 MB or 400 MB. Click “OK” after confirming
the set value.

To set paging file size, it is recommended to set a value 1.5 time
the main memory capacity for both the initial and the maximum
sizes.
For example, set the custom size to 6144 MB if the main
memory capacity is 4GB or 9216 MB if 6GB
