3. Climate
Quang Yen has typical coastal climate of Northern part of Vietnam, with tropical
monsoon and cold winter. It has two main season: hot, humid and rainy summer and
cold, dry winter. Summer season often starts from May to October, winter is from
November to April next year.

Average temperature is about 23 - 24ºC, the average sunshine hours from 1,700
- 1,800 hours / year.
Average rainfall is nearly 2000mm, the highest is 2600mm, the amount of
rainfall in rainy season accounts for 88% of total rainfall per year, average rainy
days per year is about 160-170 days.
Air humidity is quite high, 81% in average, March and April can reach 86% of
humidity, and the lowest is 70% in October and November.

In general, the climate of Quang Yen quite temperate, not only conducive to
agricultural production, but also very suitable for tourism, resort. However, because
the terrain is relatively flat and low, close to the sea, estuaries, surrounded by so
affected by hurricanes, floods, tidal surges.... Every year an average of 3-5 cyclone
landfall in Quang Yen, with strong year-end storms accompanied by heavy rainfall 1012, causing great losses of life and property. Especially, if heavy rain coincides with
high tide time, the situation becomes particularly dangerous, can cause flooding
destroyed by the sea dyke system.
