INVERSION (ĐẢO NGỮ)
I. LOẠI 1: CÓ GÌ ĐẢO NẤY :
Cách đảo: Đem động từ của câu đưa lên trước chủ ngữ.
Dùng trong các câu mở đầu bằng các trạng từ “here, there, now, then, in, out, down, up,
back, over , away, off”.
Ex: - The bus comes here --> Here COMES the bus.
- A frog sat on the grass. --> On the grass SAT a frog.
- The teacher came in, and the lesson began.--> In CAME the teacher, and the lesson began.
****CHÚ Ý: Trường hợp chủ ngữ là đại từ thì không đảo .
Ex: They went away => Away THEY went.
II. LOẠI 2: ĐẢO TRỰC TIẾP
Cách đảo: biến phần cần đảo ngữ thành câu nghi vấn
A-ĐẢO NGỮ VỚI NO VÀ NOT:
- I will lend you no money from now on.
=> NO MONEY will I lend you from now on.
- I won’t lend you any money from now on.
=> NOT ANY MONEY will I lend you from now on.
- AT NO TIME=NEVER: Không bao giờ
The result of the match was never in doubt
=> At no time/never was the result of the match in doubt
- ON NO CONDITION- ON NO ACCOUNT: Dù bất cứ lý do gì cũng không
On no accout must this switch be touched.
On no account should you be late for the Exam.
- UNDER/IN NO CIRCUMSTANCES: Dù trong bất cứ hoàn cảnh nào cũng không
- NO LONGER: Không còn nữa
The money is not to be paid under any circumstances
=> Under no circumsstances is the money to be paid
B-ĐẢO NGỮ VỚI CÁC TRẠNG TỪ PHỦ ĐỊNH:
Never(không bao giờ), rarely = seldom = little (ít khi, hiếm khi, hầu như không), hardly (ever)
(hầu như không bao giờ).
- I will never speak to him again.

=> Never WILL I speak to him again.


C-ĐẢO NGỮ VỚI:
No sooner …… than
Hardly…… when/before……..
Barely…… when/before……..
Scarcely…… when/before……..

(Vừa mới ….. thì…….)

-I had no sooner arrived home than the phone rang.
=> No sooner had I arrived home than the phone rang.
-I had hardly arrived home when/before the phone rang.
=> Hardly had I arrived home when/before the phone rang.
D. Đảo ngữ với:
Not only....... but also… : không những…….mà còn…..
Not only is he good at E but he also draws very well
=>Not only does he sing well but he plays musical instruments perfectly as well
E. ĐẢO NGỮ VỚI :
NEITHER/NOR
SO
- They don’t like chicken, neither/nor do I.
